During our recent trip to Lucerne, Switzerland, we had the pleasure of dining at the restaurant located within the stunning Hotel Château Gütsch. Perched atop a hill, this historic castle offers not only breathtaking views of the city and Lake Lucerne but also an unforgettable dining experience.
The ambiance of the restaurant was both elegant and enchanting, with a perfect blend of the castle's historic charm and modern sophistication. The setting provided a romantic and serene backdrop that enhanced our dining experience.
The menu featured an exquisite selection of dishes that beautifully showcased local ingredients and flavors. We began our meal with a refreshing artichoke salad, which was a delightful combination of fresh, crisp greens and perfectly marinated artichokes. For the main course, we enjoyed a plate of tagliolini, cooked to perfection and served with a rich, savory sauce that was simply divine. We also indulged in a beautifully presented fish dish, which was flavorful, complemented by a delicate blend of herbs and spices.
However, what truly elevated our dining experience was the exceptional service provided by our waitress, Yorodanka. From the moment we were seated, Yorodanka made us feel right at home. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering insightful recommendations that catered to our tastes and dietary preferences. Her warm and friendly demeanor, combined with her professionalism, made our meal even more enjoyable.
Yorodanka's attentiveness ensured that our glasses were never empty and that we had everything we needed throughout the evening. She went above and beyond to accommodate our requests, and her genuine enthusiasm for her work was evident in every interaction.
In summary, the restaurant at Hotel Château Gütsch in Lucerne offers an outstanding dining experience that is not to be missed. With delicious food, a charming setting, and exceptional service from staff like Yorodanka, this restaurant truly stands out as one of...

This restaurant provided the opposite experience however, and really took away from the luxury experience we expected from Chateau Gutsch.
First, the bees. Oh my goodness, the bees. I understand that there are insects with outdoor seating, but there are sooooo many bees!
We reserved a table for my wifes birthday dinner. When we were reseated inside to escape the swarm of bees, service plummeted. Our glasses were perpetually empty (water and wine), dinner was plated sooooo late, it took forever to get the bill, and they forgot to bring out the birthday desert. Food quality was fine, but portions were quite small at this price point.
The manager on staff that evening seemed more interested to talking to his buddies than checking up on the guests, and nobody seemed to care that our whole table was visibly irritated with the level of service.
If you're in Lucerne, skip this one. Head up to the bar by the lobby and take in the views before heading to somewhere else. If staying at the hotel, breakfast service is generally good, but we'd recommend heading to the city for another...
Read moreSo we came here on our 2nd (last night) in Lucerne. The restaurant is beautiful, the views are stunning, and the staff is amazing.
One thing that seemed odd to me and maybe this was a language barrier, was the waitresss offered an apperetif of Champagne or Prosecco without mentioning any cost associated. We of course took the glasses thinking it was complimentary, it was not, and we were charged 15 Francs a glass.
Now, this is a personal preference for me, but if you are in Lucerne for only a night or 2, eat somewhere more local or in the city to truly enjoy and experience more traditional Swiss food. In Lumiere, the food is very expensive and didn’t feel like a Swiss restaurant, more so a fine dining restaurant in Miami. Nothing wrong with that if that’s your style and if that’s what you’re looking for, then this is for you. Food was good for the most part, just...
