This is not Tex Mex food by any means. It is some form of Swissified Mexican food disguised as something edible. My Swiss wife and I know a thing or two about Mexican food. She spent over eight years in Mexico, and I'm from California. I usually don't go to the negative side, but with this being our second visit, and the results were just as bad as the first, I felt compelled to write something
The cheeseburger on the first visit, was more bread than burger, and it struck me as being a typical Swiss pre-cooked over spiced hamburger patty. US-Tex Mex needs to take a lesson from Arcona Living, or the Guterhof, if they want to know what a cheeseburger is about.
My safe menu choice at a new Mexican restaurant are the fajitas. For they are hard to screw up, but this restaurant succeeded. The chicken fajitas was some form of chicken chunk stew in tomato sauce , served on a cold platter. no flavor what so ever, with tortillas. It was the worst platter of fajitas I have had in a long time, and unfortunately you end up with the same in most Swiss Mexican food restaurants. The cook needs to take a look at YouTube or go back to school, to learn how to cook.
Sorry, US-MEX, you have spent a small fortune in abeyance. Now you need to work on the quality and reality of...
Read moreBEWARE! We had a very disappointing meal last night. The supposedly “spicy” Jambalaya came out lukewarm warm at best and ended up an inedible, congealed mass of rice. My wife ordered Quesadilla which contained little cheese, chicken, masses of onion and NO peppers, surely a staple in this dish. My burger had a bun way bigger than the patty. Far too much bread. The meat was only just cooked and the cheese and bacon was a mushy mess. We also ordered chicken wings as a starter. These were like quail wings obviously straight out of the freezer. The “American” style, which one would have thought would be hot and flavorsome was like a bland salsa and just a cold dip in sauce. For a Mexican restaurant we didn’t detect anything hot or see a single chillie in anything we ordered. We also waited over an hour for our main course and told our waiter we werent at all happy. He initially offers us a free coffee which we refused. After complaining about the quality of the food the bill came with just a 10% discount. Poor recompense, however we weren’t in the mood to argue. We definitely will not return. Do not go here if you really like real Mexican food. We note similar reviews...
Read moreNice Deco and the Burritos (called Enchiladas here) were very large as well as Hamburger mit Mais Brot and good although small servings of salsa with what seems to be Hausgemacht Tortilla chips which were also nice. BUT......Sadly,the Fajitas were lacking in something...A fresh hot Pan seared meat with fresh seared pepperonis and onion and seasoning?!?Too much to ask for, as pictured on the menu??? perhaps it was the Blumenkolb,Zuchetti,Karroten stew vegtables on the lukewarm fajita pan that tasted like leftovers warmed in the oven( which they were by the way)I cook btw. Or perhaps being told after complaining of the dry unmarinated chicken Fajitas that the Beef selection were like on the picture. This was not the case, they simply cooked un-seasoned stips of beef and returned the veg to this, yet again,Lukewarm pan that never was used to actually do it's job and ya know...cook. Would not reccomend if traditional Fajitas or Tex-Mex is what you are looking for, but hey...it's not H-Town, Texas no matter how nice you...
