Location is beautiful and we all were very excited to see a "Chef's Surprise" on the menu as we love to try new food and are quite adventurous. The food was delicious. The location is wonderful. The wine selection - particularly of Swiss wines - was wonderful. The only failing was the service. I brought 3 friends from Mexico who now reside in California, and who have traveled the world for both business and pleasure. After sitting in the restaurant for 3 hours and being served by each of the staff we saw working that evening, the lady that brought 2 of our courses of the chef's 5 course surprise would not direct my friend to the restroom and questioned whether he was actually a diner in the restaurant. I - a Swiss citizen but full time resident in the USA - was not questioned when I requested directions. No one checked our passports obviously ... but this treatment based on appearance put a black check mark on our otherwise lovely experience in...

Good things: Aspergeses on the dish Match of the sause and spelt Flower chips.. Good idea very nice application
Dissapointing ones:
Chef used a plate sauce for spelt, 2 kinds of buffalo roast and a buffalo sausage which is heavily sour and salty. This is a good match for the spelt but not at all for the meats. Especially sausage! The richness of the sausage and the strenght of sourity are exact not match.
Sauce is definitely not a meat sauce so should have been used only under spelt and meats should have been served with only marination without sauce.
They served an appatizer which has all sour, salt and sweet tastes but not engaged at all. They are completely seperate. I can almost say they cooked seperately and merged afterwards.
To sum up, dish was far from being delicious for me. Still, I have no complaints about the service and...
Read moreHistoric building with restaurant next to Aare river with great views. Outdoor seating available, popular on nice days as right along river walk. The food and service on a recent dinner visit was disappointing. The Bao bun appetizer was nicely done, but the main dishes lacked flavor, execution and presentation. The Schnitzel was overcooked and burned, the Mediterranean potato salad had no flavor. The vegetarian main dish with fluffy chickpeas consisted of a dry brick of chick peas, on a bed of undercooked eggplant also with no flavors, and just a hint af a sauce. The place has aspirations, with linen tablecloth and nice settings, but the food department fails, specially for the price point. No plus points for service either, the waitress had really no helpful input about the wine selection.
Update one year later: the food is still disappointing, lacking flavor in all the...
