I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is consistently delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared, and the chef clearly takes great pride in the menu. The staff deserve a 10 out of 10 for their friendliness, attentiveness, and overall commitment to creating a welcoming atmosphere. I always look forward to coming here because the quality of the food and service is exceptional.
But despite the restaurant’s many strengths, the behavior of other patrons has seriously undermined my experience. On two separate occasions within the same week, my meals were interrupted in the most inconsiderate ways. The most recent incident involved a man who thought it was acceptable to interrupt me mid-meal to demand that I move my belongings from my chair so he could accommodate an extra person at his table. There were other empty chairs available, and yet he chose to disturb a solo diner as if his needs took precedence over my peace. It’s as if being a solo female diner invites entitled behavior, which is absolutely unacceptable.
As if that wasn’t enough, the situation escalated further when the maitre d’ brought over an extra chair, blocking one of the exit paths. When I tried to maneuver around it with my coat and bags, a plastic salt shaker and pepper fell off the neighboring table. The man at that table then proceeded to throw a full-blown tantrum over something as trivial as a fallen PLASTIC salt shaker, demanding immediate attention from the staff. He looked like he was going to implode and go into cardiac arrest. It was absurdly dramatic and unnecessary, and it only highlighted the entitlement some people seem to carry into this restaurant. What is wrong with the local men here? Are you ok? I heard depression is a real problem. No wonder more women are choosing to be single.
On another occasion, a table full of older men felt it was perfectly fine to start a conversation with me while I was eating and make ignorant remarks about a continent that is not Europe, loudly sharing their unsolicited and uninformed opinions as if I, or anyone else dining, had any interest in their commentary. I don’t know why you think you needed to share your thoughts. It was not only disruptive but also a waste of my time. No one cares. Learn to leave people, women, alone. Deeply entitled, very misogynistic, ignorant and just vile behaviour. In 2024? Insane.
I come here because I value my privacy and expect to be left alone to enjoy my meal in peace—something that is supposed to be respected in Swiss culture. Alas, this is not the case. This restaurant excels in food and service and I would risk the annoyance just for the food and service here. The entitled behavior of certain patrons is less than desirable when you’re paying for a smooth dining experience and begs the question,” who is the less civilized one?’. Learn to leave people alone unless you’re footing my bill, which you are not. Very annoying..and ruins the efforts of the staff who try to make it a warm and welcoming...

Hard to fault much in the experience except the server was not available for extended periods which caused significant delays.
Food was amazing. The chef knows what he's doing for almost all the dishes. For starters had the zucchini flowers, octopus and beef tartar. Highlight was the flowers, must get.
For the mains had the Lamb Racks and the Cacio e Pepe with mushrooms. The lamb racks were beautiful, juicy, tender and flavourful. The Cacio e Pepe on the other hand left more to be desired. Tradionally it is more of a creamy dish but there was a pool of liquid at the bottom. The mushrooms did not pack the flavour. Which meant it is not a real Cacio e Pepe or the dish had been standing for too long prior to serving which caused the mushrooms to release their juices or the mushrooms were fried in butter and the juice not drained enough to make it creamy. My ideal scenario, reduce the pasta portion and make it more creamy.
After the mains the server has disappeared which made us 30 minutes later...
Read moreDelighted to say this is the best Italian restaurant in Zürich! We had the pleasure of enjoying an incredibly delicious surprise menu at Grandin Osteria. The seasonal ingredients were thoughtfully selected—featuring fresh seafood, porcini and handmade pasta—all coming together in perfect harmony. The highlight was a pistachio cream dessert that absolutely melted my heart.
