“the best coffee is the coffee you like” it says on a big sign as you enter MAME’s. I order the coffee I like - an iced Americano (decaf). The bartender refuses to make this, claiming the flavours don’t work with an iced coffee, and suggests an iced filter coffee instead. Having had MAME’s filter coffee before which my colleagues and I hated (super bitter & sour) I kindly asked for a decaf americano and a glass of ice, suggesting I would mix the 2 myself so that I did not put them in a position to have to make a coffee they did not agree with (despite their claims that a good coffee is unique to each customer and should be respected).

They flat-out denied. The young girl learning at the till at least tried to be nice about it, albeit her complete lack of ability to think outside her rigid rules. The guy making coffees behind her rolled his eyes in exasperation at my completely ridiculous demand. With the most expensive coffee in Zurich you’d expect a much better level of customer care and attention.

I walked out with an overpriced decaf americano (hot) in 30C weather to pour over ice at home
completely ruining the whole “treat yourself” coffee experience I had in mind.

If in doubt, choose Monocle over MAME every time. Coffee is better, staff is kinder, and...

Week two in Europe and I am only now getting to my first review. However, week one of this trip was spent in Italy, where pouring a cappuccino, a macchiato, a simple espresso comes as natural as breathing. Let’s just say it was a good week.

Today I awake in Zurich, on a sun kissed Sunday, where I find myself at Mame Coffee roasters. Mame has at least two locations in Zurich. The decor of pastels was tastefully managed. The service at Mame was very friendly and welcoming.

As for the coffee, well, be mind mindful this time of year many Swiss villages celebrate Alpabzkug or Desalpe, to parade the cows coming down from the mountain pastures. To say my cappuccino was milk forward should have been a given.

If you opt for a Macciatto, you’ll experience more of the roast. I would have scored Mame a 4.5 if I had the option. Moreover, I would have scored a 5 if in fact I rates macchiato’s. But I must leave this for another reviewer.

If you find yourself in Zurich, enjoy the culture, enjoy the chocolate, but please do find your way to Mame and order a macchiato. You won’t go wrong. Enjoy!

I’ve since edited my review from 4 stars to 5. The macchiato and the iced latte were simply magic. ...

When you want to carry the title of specialty you have to show it at all stages of the service and not only in the final product the coffee that is in the end was not something worthwhile. My experience after two visits to the store is the following first Sunday I ask for a filter and disparagingly the employee tells me we have it and shows me a table not at all understandable unless you have studied coffee after a lot of effort he made (logically he would be bored) he explained to me and offered me a very lukewarm filter coffee. Next week I say try again my luck not being negative at the second opportunity, I enter the store where there were only two customers who were talking to an employee as I thought but finally it turned out that what I thought of as an employee was the owner. I greet as always when I enter a place with people and not only do I get no answer but the two and then a third employee behave as if I do not exist. After waiting for about five minutes I left and I will definitely not come back. Your global distinctions certainly do not represent your service but I am not sure if they also represent the quality of...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting MAME Seefeld in Zurich, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The specialty coffee here is truly outstanding—each cup is brewed with precision, and the quality of the beans shines through in every sip. The baristas clearly take pride in their craft, and their expertise is evident in the rich flavors and perfect balance of each brew. Beyond the coffee, the atmosphere at MAME Seefeld is inviting and cozy. The modern, minimalist design creates a calm and relaxed environment, perfect for enjoying a quiet moment with your coffee even with the crowd around weekends. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to recommend something new if you're in the mood to explore different flavors. Whether you're a coffee enthusiast or just someone looking for a great place to unwind, MAME Seefeld is a must-visit in Zurich. I left thoroughly satisfied and will definitely be returning on my next trip to the city. Highly recommended!

Certainly one of the better coffee shops I have been to travelling around Europe, I do like the coffee wheel where you can choose your blends, it's a cool idea. The coffee itself was good by Europe standards, although keep in mind I am a bit biased and spoilt as I am from New Zealand where even gas station flat whites are some of the best in the world. The pastry was fresh and tasty, and the atmosphere in the cafe was nice. I liked the taste in music, some Pink Floyd and other songs from that era. The price was a little expensive at 6.5 CHF (for comparison a standard flat white in NZ is around 3.25 CHF) but I understand that this is more of a speciality thing here where most places just have push button machines. I would recommend here for the ability to try different blends of coffee bean.
