Oberes Triemli — Restaurant in Zurich

Superbe roe deer meat, great desserts. Highly recommended. Went there for lunch. We had roe deer prepared in 3 different ways. All were amazing. Meat is cooked according to the recipe (see specifications on the menu) and accompanied by vegetables, fruits, spätzli and sauces. Hard to say which was better, even if we could clearly taste 3 different tastes: “Hubertus”, well cooked in its own sauce, “Diana”, medium cooked “baden baden” style and “Hirsh hit” medium rare, the wildest taste of the three. We closed with 3 desserts, all well presented and tasty: ice-cream with Bayles cream, Merungue with ice cream and Vermicellees. Only negative comment goes to drinks. I have been to this restaurant on many occasions over the years and have never been disappointed. During the Venison season its a must as the food is superb. Their daily lunch menus are really good and reasonably priced. Whether you go in a group or just as couples the services and food never disappoints. Last Saturday I had my 70th birthday luncheon there with 19 people and everyone was more than happy with the service and food. I chose it also because of the location, people coming by car and public transport from outside the city can find it easily. Also we had a private room so we were for ourselves and having a relative in a wheelchair the invalid WC was really good. Update: returned here recently to eat the deer stew (Hirschpfeffer). The stew was acidic, sour, cringe-worthy, god-awful. The meat was as dry as it gets. The whole dish tasted like it was served in a university canteen and then generously drenched in cleaning-grade vinegar. Hadn't I been in a group of people, I would have sent everything straight back to the kitchen. In fact, the chef has some questions to answer because it takes a solid effort to prepare food this awful.
