Peking Garden — Restaurant in Zurich

I give it 4 stars to indicate that it's a good restaurant and I am willing to come back to. Ordered simple dishes: stir fried spicy lamb (comes with rice) and stir fried mixed vegetables plus a tea at a reasonable price of 33francs. Ingredients are fresh and very tasty. The lamb is very nicely cooked, not over cooked and not chewy. I couldn't finished everything and had enough for lunch tomorrow. It's good value restaurant in a very expensive city (compare to London) and this meal is back down to London price. Because of the price bracket it's in, please do not compare to the Michelin Star restaurant, it will be unfair. This should be treated as your normal equivalent of a good fish and chips shop around your home. You shouldn't make a special trip to visit but if you happen to be nearby and want a quick grab of fresh, fast Chinese food, then it won't go wrong. I must say it's too salty for me, but that's my fault as I normally eat very light and forgot to ask them to go easy on the salt. They got my feedback and were very accommodating and saying next time, as long as I ask to go light on the salt, they will for sure do it as requested. All in all, good for me to go back and try a couple more...

After a months of ordering food from there, I can finally say a few words. Sometimes the food is perfect, fresh, tasty and can't wait to order again but sometimes is simply not fresh ! It's awful, you can't relay on the top quality because you never know what they will serve you. Once I could chew a chicken like a gum. Especially, ordering during evening it's a lottery with high probability of getting something which won't taste as you desire. It's very difficult to get rating on google below 4 but having it at 3.7 at this time, shows I am not the only one with that experience.

Regarding restaurant itself. Old stickers on the wall, sport newspapers, music out of nowhere - this place has not clear vision of what exactly it is. It's not Chinese restaurant nor any other type as a whole.

If you would like to improve, please reduce the number of options in the menu - it can't be fresh when you have so...

So, i came to peking garden with an empty stomach and a huge appetite for some delish chinese fast food. I ordered a few dishes, one of which was gebratene nudeln mit Gemüse. I went home looking forward to chowing down but when i opened my noodles with veggies.... There was just a huge clump of oily, bland noodles with not a vegetable in sight. After some diligent searching, i found 4 large chunks of onion, 1 limp sliver of carrot and the tip of a sprout. I dont expect fine dining when visiting peking garden, but "noodles with vegetables" should probably be changed to "noodle ball". On the plus side were friendly service, cute lil spicy sauce cups and a big fish tank for some quality entertainment...
