Akaras — Restaurant in Zurich

This place is “roots”. It’s like simple “real food”, not charming food, No fancy food. In times of restaurants creating fancy-looking dishes that taste like nothing and charging a fortune, this place was refreshing. The restaurant inside looks very very nice, almost doesn’t match the food to me. I believe it’s Turkish, not sure. I enjoyed a decent Döner "Kebap im Taschenbrot" in this newly restaurant.

The Kebap was fresh, tasty and looked great. It is prepared from layered (not minced) meat. The bread was slightly too long in the oven...very nicely crunchy but would crack a little when eaten.

The restaurant is very spacious, has a modern look. There are many niches but also large tables for groups. It's located right across the Zürich Altstetten train station.

We stopped by for a quick bite on a late night. The place is very cozy with well-kept plants, with a quiet ambiance and comfortable seats. The food was freshly made for us (we had Pide).
