QIRIN - Sushi & Drinks — Restaurant in Zurich

Regrettably, my initial encounter with the esteemed sushi establishment left much to be desired. Eager to explore the diverse range of sushi offerings, including the chef's specialties, my party and I were met with profound disappointment. The flavors, or lack thereof, failed to stimulate our palates, with one particular creation, purportedly infused with cheese, evoking a most pungent and evocative resemblance to the scent of robustly odiferous feet.

Additionally, our foray into the realm of culinary indulgence extended to a sampling of beef wagyu, only to be met with a disheartening experience akin to that of partaking in a sponge saturated with an excessively saline solution. Moreover, our patience was strained as we languished for over an hour, despite the conspicuous absence of patrons within the premises. Alas, no amends were proffered nor any indications of commendable service were observed. Although the service was not explicitly abhorrent, it regrettably fell short in terms of attentiveness and finesse.

To compound our woes, the denouement of our dining experience manifested in the form of an arduous ordeal during the settlement of the bill. Initially, our chosen method of payment was met with refusal, precipitating a vexing struggle to rectify the matter. Eventually, upon receiving change, our elation proved short-lived, as it became apparent that the sum returned to us was grievously insufficient, diverging significantly from the rightful amount.

In summation, my inaugural visit to this sushi establishment, while perhaps inadvertently amusing in its ineptitude, left an indelible mark of dissatisfaction upon my discerning gastronomic...

All in all I had a wonderful evening at QIRIN.

The appetizers were simple, but rich in flavors and very well prepared.

The usual sushi you can find anywhere was as well made as it could be in Switzerland.

Their specialty sushis were phenomenal. There is creativity at work at QIRIN. This is definitely where they shine their brightest. The flavours are balanced, there is plenty of creative options and I was not disappointed in any of the orders.

The other points of excellence are their homemade iceteas and lemonades. Sure, other restaurants can have nice drinks, but there's a variety of curated homemade drinks that nicely complement the food.

The only minor annoyance was the slightly nervous service. There was a mixup with our plate (that they fully owned and apologized for) and we generally waited for quite a bit to order more drinks, because the waiters didn't notice me trying to get their attention. The restaurant hasn't been open for long, so some leeway is a given.

Bonus points for being able to order through the piece of paper. This makes everything less stressful.

All in all, it's an incredibly promising restaurant that shines in creativity.

Suggestion: Try to regularly check in with the tables. Not by interrupting conversations (like many restaurants do), but just by walking a defined route every 15 minutes. In this route a staff member (usually owner or chef de service) just "checks" every table for empty drinks or people needing attention and after completing the route, informs the correct waiter for the tables...

Qirin Sushi is a unique and memorable dining experience. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a beautiful and modern ambiance that is both elegant and comfortable. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and attentive, making you feel right at home.

One of the highlights of dining at Qirin Sushi is their use of dry ice to serve their sushi. This creates a theatrical effect, with the smoke billowing around the plate and giving a sense of awe and excitement to the experience. It's definitely a conversation starter and something you'll want to capture on camera.

But of course, the most important part of any sushi restaurant is the sushi itself, and Qirin Sushi does not disappoint. The sushi is fresh and flavorful, with a wide variety of options to choose from. Whether you prefer traditional nigiri or more creative rolls, you'll find something to love on the menu.

In addition to the sushi, Qirin Sushi also offers a range of other dishes, including appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Everything we tried was delicious and beautifully presented, making for a memorable and satisfying meal.
