We landed in Zurich and were walking along the beautiful Gold Coast lake. After all that walking, we got hungry, so we found this place on Yelp. The terrace was wonderful, especially for us, visiting Zurich for the first time, to look out over the street, especially on a beautiful summer evening.
The service was friendly, and we greatly appreciated the speedy service. We were hungry! I had been very specific about wanting regular water, but they charged my companion and me for mineral water (€4 per person), which was a disappointment. We ordered a portion of vegetarian spring rolls (€8), a super small portion (see photo) and only two pieces. My companion ordered the khao suey with shrimp (€29), which was beautifully presented and delicious. My red curry (vegetarian - €23) was nice, but I asked them to chop it up, and it wasn't very spicy. However, it was warm and comforting, and I was so hungry that I ate practically everything in the photo. In short, I arrived without high expectations, but I left satisfied and wonderfully full. It was a great way to end my first...
Read moreMy new favourite Thai place in Zurich - perfect for a healthy, quick and satisfying treat. Almost every dish is available in a vegetarian version.
Yesterday evening, I went there with friends and had an awesomely balanced Pad Krapao with tofu. The presentation was fresh and classical at the same time: the spicyness was just about right, and I like spicy food. The dish was labelled two stars out of three for spicyness, I guess the three-star-dishes are more for hardcore chili lovers... I also tried the vegetarian Pad Thai, a big thumbs up for this too. Prices in this restaurant are moderate for an expensive city like Zurich. In other reviews I read that this place is always busy, but it wasn't the case yesterday around 9pm. We easily found a big table for the four of us and it was silent enough to have a relaxed conversation.
It won't be the last time I have had a good meal here, looking forward to trying more traditional...
Read moreGreat Asian food is hard to come by in Zurich.
I wouldn't go so far to say that the food here is great, but it's darn good enough to satisfy all your spicy, saucy, coconut-y, rice-y cravings. And it ticks the boxes - tasty, cheap (in the warped Zurich universe of value), consistent, and offering a wide variety of dishes with rotating specials. And absurdly fast for takeout. There have been times where I order and my food is ready while my chip and pin card is still "Connecting..." Srsly.
Recommendations: the pad thai or pad see yu, if you're feeling noodley. Any of the curries or the gan sao chicken (kind of like general tsao?) are good rice dishes. They also have a version "khao soi," my favorite thai dish. While it doesn't feel muy authentico, it's perfect when you can't decide between eating...
