Read moreCame here on a Wednesday evening (18:35) and immediately noticed two things: This place is TINY – smallest Yume location by far It was PACKED. Every seat taken. If you’re coming for dinner, either reserve or show up early. No cap. What I got: • Chicken Karaage Don (my usual, because I’m loyal to perfection) • Tonkotsu Ramen (first time trying their tonkotsu) The Karaage Don: Still the best in Zürich. Crispy exterior, juicy chicken, perfectly seasoned. The yuzu-kosho mayo is a vibe. If you’re not getting this, you’re missing out. The Tonkotsu Ramen: This is where they really showed out. This bowl is SERIOUS. We’re talking: • 18-hour creamy pork broth that’s properly reduced • Actual viscosity – you can see the richness when you lift the spoon • Umami explosion – every flavor note is distinct and intentional • Properly flamed chashu that’s tender and flavorful If you’ve had tonkotsu at other spots in Zürich and thought “this is fine,” let me tell you: this is what it’s SUPPOSED to taste like. No watered-down broth, no shortcuts, no cutting corners. This is technique-driven, slow-cooked, proper Japanese tonkotsu. Your tastebuds need to pay attention to this one because there’s layers to the flavor profile. Bonus MVP: Matcha Soft Ice They have iced matcha latte and matcha soft ice here. Why Limmatplatz Other Locations: • Smallest space = more intimate vibe • Matcha soft ice availability (seriously, this alone is worth it) • Same quality as the other locations but feels more focused • Staff is on point, service is quick Important tips: • RESERVE if you’re coming for dinner. This place fills up FAST. • If you’re serious about ramen, get the tonkotsu. It’s the move. • Don’t skip the matcha soft ice. I’m not joking. • Chicken karaage don never misses. Final verdict: This isn’t just “good ramen in Zürich” – this is proper, technique-driven, no-compromises Japanese ramen. The tonkotsu alone is worth the trip. The matcha soft ice seals the deal. If you’re a ramen head, this is...
Looking for a quick bowl of Ramen, I arrived at the place at 18:05 and left at 18:20 after eating a bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen. I must say, it was quite good. I had Tonkotsu ramen in Hataka, Fukuoka a few months ago and it's honestly somewhat comparable, which is great! What I missed most were the different condiments that you usually get on your table in Japan: Garlic Rayu (chili oil) Sesame Seeds Vinegar was ok, could be better Pepper
My biggest point of concern really wasn't the food and I was happy that I got it quickly. But having to pay CHF 35.90 for a quick, 10-15 minute meal is pretty steep. I get that many people in Switzerland when eating out take their time, talk, sit at their table for hours and that's why the prices are higher. But I suggest you maybe have a price reduction for people who leave the restaurant in less than 30 minutes after coming in, so it can also be attractive as a quick, savory meal. 20-25.- should be more appropriate, since you could increase the customer turnover rate. It doesn't seem like the place lacks in popularity, since I was told that I could stay a maximum of 40 minutes due to reservations and it was a Monday evening, right at opening time.
Also, another part of concern is the tap water policy. There seem to be quite a few people with a Japanese background working here. Nowhere in Japan did we have to pay for tap water, on the contrary, they are often apologizing if the self-service water, that they provide you with for free, goes empty. Maybe some spirit of Japanese hospitality was lost? Can it be found again?
I will certainly come back, since the food was great and it would be great to see some changes in the direction that I am suggesting. I would probably come here at least...
Read morefood: we ordered two ramen, I like the tantanman, which I believe is a translated name from a Chinese dish. It’s tasty, but nothing related to the original tantanman. The karage is very good. I like the texture, juicy yet not too oil. I have definitely have better one but this is good enough. Wish there were more sauce. The salad is interesting. I think they mixed wasabi in the sauce which makes it a bit spicy. The top is radish not vermicelli lol. Recommend. The service is welcoming and nice. What I don’t like is the atmosphere. It’s super noisy and loud. Tables are set up very close. Almost feel like a very bright pub. Definitely not recommended it you are someone like me, who prefer a quieter and more distanced place so that I can actually talk to my friends without yelling. People next to our table are just drinking beers, siting so close that I feel maybe we are in the same group. Also the guy keep looking at our table made me super uncomfortable. So, food is not bad( not sure of that’s worth the 90 chef tho), yet it’s not a great choice for people who prefer more private space...
