This place has some potential but is completely overrated with supposed so many Gault Millau points. Upon arrival with a reservation for 2 people, a couple ahead of us without a reservation were seated at a normal table in the restaurant while we were seated at a high table with bar stools in a far corner of the side room as a last resort. We were assured “it’s very comfortable” - the table was still very dirty and not cleaned before we sat down. Ordering is done on an iPad/tablet which is a bit of a joke given the prices, for which I would receive proper service in other restaurants. Over CHF 200 spent between us and all we drank was 1 beer each, not like we had wine or anything. Some dishes were very tasty (the eggplant), others were very, very salty (fried chicken) and another simply didn’t seem right (beef: overly velveted, oddly slippery and unpleasant, in a sauce tasting of deep fryer fat). Note that I say this as a person who enjoys salty food and cooks with msg from time to time. Service is a bit all over the place with a person coming by only to take empty plates and bring new dishes (in random order) without saying a word. It’s also quite cheeky that you have to pay half a franc for chili oil which essentially is them bringing the large jar of chili oil for the table, and taking it away again at the end of the meal. Let’s get real, in any serious Chinese restaurant costing a fraction as much you would get such condiments complementary at every table. Overall not the worst experience, but simply not worth revisiting anytime soon and I would not necessarily go out of my way to recommend...
Read moreLÈ cusine is a nice addition to the variety of new Asian restaurants opening around town. A Shanghai style place is great, especially amongst them any new Japanese restaurants and Ramen bars that have opened.
LÈ cusine has a huge sign on the door saying “duck & dumplings”, yet there were no dumplings on the menu, which confused not just my friend and myself, but many people also at other tables. The menu officially said it was the soft opening menu, so it is understandable that not all the dishes are available, that will be on the final menu, yet the signature dishes should be there.
Do you get reservations as the place gets packed rather quickly. Because of the many tables that have been squished very closely into a very tight space. This is also the reason why it gets very loud and more relaxed and intimate conversations are rather not possible.
If you’re in the mood for good food and a fun night out this is a good place to go. When ordering the duck, be aware that it comes with bones, which are hard to get out just with chopsticks, so do feel free to ask...
Read moreOne of the very few restaurants in Switzerland I know that serve Chinese preserved eggs and 汤圆 dessert. Their food is fresh, made on site, quite original, authentic and really tasty. Freshly prepared in the middle of the seating area, you can see the cook chopping the veggies in front of you. I like the fact they have a few vegetarian/vegan options.
Went to both of their locations in Zurich and this one is fine, but the staff seems to be quickly overwhelmed and some really lack experience, probably. We indeed waited quite a long time before getting just 2 bowls of white rice the waitress forgot to serve us although we ordered them before along with the dishes, thus the other food was almost cold when we started enjoying it. Then, she kept coming back and forth with empty hands, ignoring our request to get the bill in the end, during quite a long time (more than 15 minutes).
Well, other than that, it’s a good place to enjoy some Chinese food that’s different from the usual chopsuey, frozen dumplings and MSG fried noodles you...
