Having known the Gelateria di Berna at their beginning in Bern, coming back to the experience years later was - I'm lacking for words here - disappointing? concerning? Many questions... How does the yoghurt ice cream taste more like yoghurt than an actual yoghurt? Like seriously, is it a yoghurt ice cream on steroids? Then the lavender ice cream which, with little imagination, just tastes like the cleaning products of my bathroom. The marzipan/mohn ice cream is an overload of cheap amaretto. And finally we have the bourbon vanille of Madagascar (very specific) where the colour just confused me and it was lacking taste. It also resembles a lot the Migros vanilla, so I guess I solved one mystery. In conclusion the hype is not deserved anymore, just pass... Because we ended up throwing half the ice cream away. At the time of purchase, a three scoop Grosse size was 5.90 CHF which isn't even too far off from other normal ice cream places I've been to, but at the same time even that size was a bit for me, so it might be small for some people. One thing is that the worker there was definitely overworked, with her doing everything from scooping ice-cream for people, packaging orders, and doing the register. Needs more workers, as tables were quite dirty with nobody else to clean them. But, the actual experience with the food was...
