This is a hard one to review. Me and my girlfriend went to eat here for her birthday. We arrived in the beautifull old street where this establishment is located, in the middle of the city centre of Antwerp. Away from all the noise and the drunk hooligans that stroll around this city every day. We had booked a seat so did not have to wait for long. We were attended in a very friendly way, the dishes took a while to arrive so we were excited and waiting with great hunger untill our food arrived. I must say the wait was dissapointing. I ordered the salmon with fresh vegetables, when my plate arrived it looked like one of those pieces of salmon that comes in one of those freezed packages in bulk which you can buy for a few bucks in your local Aldi for example, this was confirmed when I took the first bite and the inside still looked as pink as a frozen piece of salmon, and it should not look like this. Besides the potato mash that came with this plate was cold as if they had not properly warmed it up. Unless it was meant to be a cold potato mash? I found this very strange. €24 euros for this piece of trash meal was not worth it. I could have made this myself at home for 5 euros in a way tastier manner. Also in my opinion the portion was too small, I left hungry. My girlfriend had a meat stew plate which she enjoyed very much. Also the pasta plate the folks next to us had orderered looked way better then what I got. Could have just been that I chose the wrong plate on the wrong day, who knows. In conclusion: cosy location, nice setting, friendly waiters, food was average at best but total trash for that price. Would give 2,5 stars if that was possible.

This would be an amazing place to eat in the summer. Fantastic old building right in the centre of town but down an alley way so that you would not know that it is there. The photos say it all. However, in the winter, eating in the restaurant is a different story. The small ground floor space is small and packed with tables so it is a squeeze getting to a table. It is very relaxed, warm and peaceful so it has it's charm. The main issue I have is that the food just wasn't up to the quality. I only had a steak but it was over cooked for my liking and it had not been rested enough so that the plate had a lot of blood on it. I don't mind blood as much as some but I don't think I would go again - except in the summer for lunch maybe. Finally, the price is good so offers good value for money.

Worst experience ever. I had the most wonderful time in Antwerp and ended with this awful experience. The waiting time is too long (more than an hour), waiting time to get the menu, then to wait to make the order, then to wait and get the appetiser and another 40 mins for the entrée. The waitress is so busy that she did not even bother to ask me what side dish I want with the duck and gave me a tarte tatin when the meal was served. The food was not bad but certainly not worth the wait. It was far too expensive, worst than the “Commerical restaurants” out on Grotke market. It’s a waste of my time, a waste of my money and a waste of my stomach. I feel so disappointed and angry that it compels me to write a review right after I left the restaurant. Don’t bother. Seriously.

It is a bit hard to find in some alleyways. The inside is quaint and has nice decoration and real candles. They do not serve tap water which is unfortunate. The Soup Du Jour was tasty, I did not catch the name but I believe it was a pumpkin and/or carrot soup. The menu said it came with bread but we only got 4 pieces of bread with 3 soups. I did not want to risk accidentally buying a 7 euro basket of bread so I did not comment. The chicken and shrimp tagliatelle was extremely good, the sauce was perfect, it was lightly sweet and savory. The chicken and shrimp were great, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. Overall it was an above average dining experience and I'd recommend it over the more touristy restaurants we walked by to get there.

A hidden gem that truly saved us from the cold! We had a reservation for 5:30 PM, but the staff graciously welcomed us in at 4:40 PM for hot drinks, even though the kitchen wasn't quite ready. This thoughtful gesture helped us warm up and start our evening on a positive note. We savored two local snacks: deep-fried shrimpcake and cheesecake, and two delicious pasta dishes: shrimp, chicken & vegetables and cream salmon. The cream salmon pasta was particularly outstanding, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere, tucked away in an alley in the old town, adds to its charm. Overall, our experience at T'Hokfe was amazing, marked by great food and exceptional service. Highly recommended!

Romantic hidden gem in the alley. Small and cozy seating, friendly service, great food. We've ordered escargot for appetizer 5/5, tender and flavorful. For main we got duck breast 4/5 cooked perfectly, comes with stir fry vegetables with asian flares. And fillet mignon steak with mushroom gravy 5/5, my husband loved it and he is not steak fan. For the drink the house red wine 5/5, which is really special and a cocktail with orange 4/5 not as sweet as expected. For the sweet ending, the sweet sin 5/5, a collection of all their sweets, love them all especially the chocolate pie or cake, worth every bite. Overall, a great escape from the bars and the city and the food is really worth the trip. Would definitely come back.
