上海邵師傅湯包 — Restaurant in Da'an District

A very interesting take on the class xiao long bao/小籠包. I passed this place wandering around the area and was drawn in by the unique dishes they offered.

I ordered the pan-fried pork xiao long bao ($70), pork pot stickers ($50), and a corn soup ($20). I came in during peak lunch hours and was told that it would take some time for the pot stickers and pan-fried xiao long bao. I did end up waiting 20-25 minutes so would recommend getting an appetizer or a soup to hold you down until then.

The pan-fried xiao long bao came out looking a lot better than I expected and even retained the juice inside each bun. The pot stickers and corn soup were relatively normal by Taiwanese standards.

Very nice Xiao Long Bao restaurant in Da'an. The mapu tofu version is very interesting. However, the delicate flavors of the xiao long bao don't show through because of the strong flavors of mapu tofu. The stinky tofu version was nice and very light stinky tofu essence. More importantly, the skin of the bao was perfect. The bao didn't break or fall apart. The meat was very tasty, lots of juices and nice pork flavor. The hot and sour soup was not worth it. Not enough pepper and not enough vinegar. They also made it too gooey, too much corn starch. Will definitely come back for the xiao long bao. Would probably get the plain xiao long...

Unique style of steam dumplings that get a crispy bit on bottom. Maybe this is the only store you can get this food. The dumplings also serve by sauce on top like mapo tofu and zhajiang sauce that usally pair with rice and noodle. The dumplings skin is not too thick, the meat is good portion for one bite size. I like the size so much. The price start around 80nt and not go too far from that. Here they have 1 big table and some small table. You also able get soup here.
