We always go to sushi no midori when we stopped by tokyo and since Tokyo isn't happening any time soon, we were very excited to try this brand new place (a few months old!) In Taipei! We got in line via QR code from about 1:30pm and we got in at 2:40pm. Just in time for the limited lunch special (700NT). It was quite an upgrade from the midori lunch set at 500NT and it was definitely worth it! The best were the uni, fatty tuna, sweet shrimp, and scallop. The salmon I thought was not very flavorful and the ikura was good but nothing special. Note that I'm comparing this to the freshest sashimi in Hokkaido so maybe I'm a little less forgiving. The rice seemed quite old and dry for some reason so maybe arrive earlier for lunch to get fresher rice. Service was great, I could even bring a baby in surprisingly. Credit cards accepted. I might have to come back for...
Read moreUnbelievable quality and amazing sushi - yes, the price is a bit higher for a meal in Taipei/Taiwan but it's worth the extra expense. I can not believe the overall rating for this restaurant isn't higher than 4.2 stars! I'm from London where this meal would have easily been NT$4000+++ and my final bill was less than half of that. I had a sushi set (mentioned several times below, in other reviews) and added a monkfish liver which was sublime. The set came with a starter crab salad and a seafood tofu/egg type dish, matcha tea, and you can order free miso as many times as you want. I'm heartbroken today is my last in Taiwan before heading back to London or I'd definitely go again tomorrow! If you love sushi, make sure you visit...
Read moreHave gone to its Tokyo locations quite a few times over the years and, sadly, satisfaction deteriorated. This first location in Taiwan has nice decor, bright and comfortable. Ordered from the mini pads made it convenient, but also meant that it was hard to get the servers attention. Tried chu-toro sashimi, fresh but kind of watery in texture; the combo nigiri had a mix performance, eel was delicious, the rest average. The special shining skin fish nigiri was a bit above average, but on the fishy side. If you are used to high quality omakase sushi/nigiri, this is not the place for you. If you enjoy the lower priced sushi boat restaurants, and are willing to pay more,...
