AGUSTO — Restaurant in Da'an District

Unfortunately it was a disappointing dining experience due to a combination of multiple factors that you don’t expect to face from a 2000+ per person price tag. In short: the restaurant is overpriced and should stick with dishes no more than 400-500 NTD tops. Long version: Some food quality is dissatisfied. A. Waitress suggested to have steak as medium rare, even though initially I asked for rare. Her suggestion was good and on point, I agreed for medium rare. But in fact I got rare steak that’s tastes bad. B. Lobster was fresh, but no sauce with it, just vegetables. If we are supposed to eat it in some specific way with vegetables, nobody told us. Eventually lobster feels dry and nothing enhances its taste. Out of 6 different dishes only 2 were actually good. Also desserts and drinks were fine. Even though our waitress was trying hard to help us so her intentions are good, but they are not well trained to deal with dishes on the table, bringing a lot of food together at the same time and not picking up used tissues and plates. Again, I give a star to the waitress for good intentions, but it is restaurants responsibility to train well and have supervision. Came on a Friday night at around 8pm and almost all restaurants nearby were full. So I appreciated the staff of this restaurant for letting me in despite their shortage of manpower.

However, in terms of food, it was below average. The baked vegetables were drawn in water when served (probably due to the high temperature of baking the veges) and the squid pasta was lack of flavour. The dried-age steak was quite tender but not meatful and juicy enough, also the sides were a bit pitiful. I didn’t understand why the other reviews gave 5 stars for the food, as the dishes clearly were not up to par.

As much as I appreciated the efforts of the staff, I believe only 2 waitresses covering the entire dinner period was clearly insufficient. Therefore the finished plates in my table were unattended to, my water was not regularly refilled, my wine order was missing, and no change of plates for my entire meal.

Given the setting and price range of this meal, I expect much better services and food - clearly it was far from...
