heathy cheat day
Positioned as Mediterranean cuisine, but actually boasted a diverse western menu. Mediterranean-style light cuisine, which is a healthy way to eat, without excessive seasoning or cooking, in order to get the most original nutrients.
Interior was big and bright, with plenty of seating. All cutlery, condiments and food ordering are all self-served at counter and at designated stations. Staff is only responsible for serving.
Sous Vide Steak - there are two versions. Rib eye and the Naturally fed ver which is chuck meat. Rib eye + Sous vide style are both essentially fool-proof cooking but stupid me decided to be adventurous and placed bets on the chuck version to test out their skills. Boy, was I disappointed! Sous vide is such a gentle cooking process, you'll be able to achieve steaks that are more evenly cooked from edge to edge. Chuck meat (blade) comes from the shoulder region of the animal, one of the hardest-working muscular areas so handling of the breakdown of musics tissue and collagen tests the mastery of cooking. Whilst there are many ways to tenderize meat, I’m not sure how they did it but it sure came out chewy and was a jaw workout that I eventually gave up and tendered my bill n feedback to floor manager, Linda. Linda was very attentive and offered new steak, or anything on menu for free. Though we declined as our stomachs was full already. French fries on the side were nice skinny crisps with potato skin on and the port wine sauce that accompanied the steak was also brilliant. Garlic oil, Romano and wild mushroom pasta - pasta was cooked perfectly and a tasty nutty hint in every bite. Carrot cake - stood out and was very redeeming to my prior disappointment to the steak. Cake was moist and icing was rich.
Overall impression was still good and will return to try out their brunch menu soon. 我和我女朋友都覺得經理Linda...
Read moreBeen there twice in a month or so. First time last month for dinner, they just started to serve dinner time. The place is kind of chaotic, environment is noisy and spreading a tense aroma. The food was ok and price reasonable. Thought that just the crowd that night and staff not quite ready. Excusable. Today we pick tea time for some snacks. I called ahead and the lady answered the phone told me they don't accept reservation for tea time. She said the place still have plenty of space and ask me to go. When I got there, the girl at the reception ask me if I have reservation. I told her I did call ahead and they won't accept my reservation. Ridiculously she said that just their 'nice' way to turn down reservation. I told her if that's the case the lady should have told me 'not to come'! But she told there's tables available and asked me to come. This is the most absurd excuse and service I have ever experienced for my 30+years in Taiwan. There are tables might be just for their convenience not to offer to us. Finally they offer us a table which we can only stay for 90 mins. That's perfectly fine if they have offered in the first place. We plan to be there for a quick bite anyway. Yet we were too fumed to take that after hearing all these dumb excuses. We decided to walk away. If their staff are trained not to serve but just to operate. This place do not deserve a prime location like that. Definitely will damage the good hospitality...
Read moreCATERPILLARS FOR LUNCH ! YEAH :(
I have been eating at Gonna for a very long time (taking my colleagues there for lunch at least once a week). Because of COVID, I started working from home and ordering online.
We just ordered salads for our entire family and then we found a caterpillar in our salad. We put it on a tissue so you can see it better (see pictures) My kids found the caterpillar and just couldn't eat it after that. Did they even wash the salad well? Apparently not well enough.
Gonna was willing to refund us the money for the entire order. Ironically, they came back to our house to pick-up the food (not sure why...I hope they don't sell it to someone else -- that would be disgusting)
It's extremely disappointing. I liked their food a lot but this really comes down to quality and trust...My Gonna lunch days are over.
I guess Gonna should mean: "Gonna get a caterpillar in my salad" "Gonna get sick eating this..." "Gonna get la-duzi (diarrhea) later" "Gonna never order from them again" "Gonna find a new...
