Intention — Restaurant in Da'an District

This bar is overrated guys. I am reasonable and have to tell you that 4.9 stars (today is 11/14/2018) is way too much. The bar size is ok but the decoration is quite random. Next to some Minion stuff toys there was a huge leopard vodka advertisement right at the entrance in white and blue which totally didn’t fit any aspect of nice interior design. But the entrance of the bar is cute with a glass roof which makes you feel comfy. They don’t have a menu therefore asked me my taste. I said I’d like to have spicy and gin as the base. In the end, the drink you see on the picture arrived in front of me. It was a base which wasn’t gin, then the bartender poured some juice over and then the red stuff at the top which wasn’t spicy too. It tasted like something my niece could do at home when I give her three types of liquids (and my niece is let’s say 8 years old).

I’m sorry to be so straight but I was really disappointed and I want you people out there to not be influenced by the rating of this...

Too bad that we come before a scheduled dinner otherwise I would have ordered fried platters and pizza and pasta(you don’t know how good they smell, they just look super mouthwatering, I simply can’t take my eyes off other tables’ orders), we have ordered an oolong tea and tieguanyin cocktail, perfect balance and texture, the whiskey base is not overtaking the tea while with the dried plum adding to the oolong tea cocktail not only giving the cocktail a hinge of Taiwan character but also bringing the tea cocktail to another level. After all, with a classic guide you can replicate all kinds of cocktail everywhere but being able to master local ingredients and classic cocktails to a harmony is what a master should be like. Do visit Xiao Yu when you’re visiting Taipei, it’s a place that you can’t miss, friendly and knowledgeable bartender as him such a pity if you don’t get to try his masterpieces!!

p.s. cocktails do have lots of variations but classic menus can’t...

I came here with a good friend on a Wednesday night around 11pm, and was met by a place that just soothed good vibes into your soul. Wasn't too busy, but wasn't empty either. Plenty of patrons enjoying their usual banter and gossip, but my friend and I sat at the counter.

Sean, the bartender and owner, immediately greeted us with a local Taipei charm and charisma. When he asked what I was feeling, I told him nothing too sour, nothing too sweet, and has whiskey as a base. He served me the greatest whiskey cocktail I've ever had, decorated with thin apple slices and some good insightful conversation that lasted for hours. Laughs were had, high fives were slapped, and friendships were toasted. You will never find this experience anywhere else, even in glorious Taipei.

Come here for the drinks, but stay for the healing of your soul. You will feel like a renewed person going out. Oh, and be a good patron. Tip the bartenders on the way out. Call...
