Mod Sequel (Mod 2) — Restaurant in Da'an District

I discovered Mod Sequel through a friend and had started to come regularly. The last time I came, however, I was informed that there was a minimum spend and my party didn't meet it, so we could either buy more drinks or pony up $500. I was not aware of a minimum (nobody ever mentioned it and I never noticed anything on the menu, etc.) so I was perplexed. The bartender explained that the minimum is only in effect on weekends and basically shrugged his shoulders when asked how customers can be charged a minimum when it isn't conspicuously disclosed to them beforehand.

While I like the chill vibe of this bar, its business practices aren't very sensible for an establishment that has been pretty slow on all but one of my visits, with about as many staff working as patrons eating and drinking. Perhaps I stumbled upon the reason for that. Whatever the case, I...

Terrible service. The staff couldn't do their mathematics and it's their fault not to account for some of our guests leaving and already paid early. As a result the last seven of us when we left were slammed with a bill and they were vehement we didn't meet the minimum spend of 500 per person when in fact some of our party had already paid. Went there two months ago, but I still can't forget the great taste of the food and drinks over there!! The staff was friendly and knowledgable. I will highly recommend the restaurant for everyone who's looking for a relaxed night at Taipei City! The only problem is that the food and drinks are so good that it's easily to spend more money than you thought...
