Before I went abroad, my friend and I had a decent afternoon tea here and discussed what our friends were doing. The dishes and milk tea were good. However, I wanna talk about sth buried deeply in my heart. If you do not expect to see some crazy emotional murmur. Please do not unfold my review.
This shop was recommended by a girl, whom I still have a huge crush on, and she told me about this shop through the phone or text I am not sure about it. Anyway, after several days she told me about this store, she and I had a...date or a hangout in my car. She mentioned this shop again! Guess what!!! I immediately replied to her that one of my friends told me the same shop you just mentioned. She was...shocked. I could tell it from her face and realized that fk that friend was her!!! I was so awkward… such the most embarrassing moment I ever had.
It's a sweet moment that I have with her. However, I kind of disappointed her(not because of this experience)and she might just find out that I might not be the one she wants. She started to ignore my messages and …
This happened like a half of a year ago. Although she had a chat with me off and on after I came to the states, she expressed that she doesn’t want any relationship rn(maybe I am not qualified). But I can feel that she is the one I truly love by now….
Now I don't mind just being alone. I have a good time to be on my own. But I sometimes...
Read moreBYOM! (more later) So, Rose House has all the trappings of a solid English-style tea experience. Nice decor? Check. Fancy chinaware? Check. Tiered tray of sweets and savories? Check. Interesting variety of teas? Check. But... then it falls apart a bit on execution. First, the milk. They ran out, so after asking a few times, I ending up having to go to 7-11 to buy some. Here's a random idea... if the kitchen is out of milk, maybe a staff member could have gone to 7 instead? Or, use Food Panda... takes like 20 minutes. This is not like a beef noodle restaurant that has no need for milk. This is an English-style afternoon tea house... that means tea, with milk, and sugar. But for now, "Bring Your Own Milk" (BYOM). A few more trifling execution misses: (1) the tiered food tray is meant to be shared by two people, so most tea places would have two of every item (here, we had to less-than-artfully split). (2) Please don't "refresh" my fruit tea (that doesn't have a tea bag in it) with more hot water... that just makes it into lightly scented hot water. (3) Sugar in packets is kind...
Read moreAbsolutely loved this spot in the Yongkang area. It's easy to get to from the bus or MRT. We ordered the classic afternoon tea set for two (768 NTD for two people) and got to pick 2 cup of tea from a bunch of rose tea flavors. We tried four different ones and they were all good - the perfect balance of rose aroma and taste without going overboard.
The desserts were on point, too. Loved that they weren't too sweet and even had some with a nice sour kick. But, surprisingly, I like their scones, especially after I add the rose jam. The only thing I cannot eat was the bacon in the sandwiches since I don’t eat bacon. Wish there were some alternatives for that.
Overall, it's a cozy place with great vibes, tasty food, and really reasonable prices. The classical music in the background just seals the deal. Plus, if you're tourist and need a tea gift, they've got an amazing selection at great prices. Definitely...
