I had a 1/2 Crispy-skin Sliced Roasted Duck ($980) and this was my first time eating Roasted Duck for a long time.
Eating the crispy skins with the sugar provided was quite delicious.
The duck meat slices were tender and they went so well with their special Sichuan pepper salt. Moreover, Wafer-Thin Steamed Pancakes ($60 originally) are already included in the meal and I suggest you cover the duck meat with that because it does really hit different.
The duck bones (duck meat attached to bones) were needed to be eaten carefully but that was the reason why it had special texture and great juiciness.
Smoked Plum Juice ($80) was thirst-quenching and good for eating these foods because your mouth would get greasy. The sourness and sweetness were on a perfect scale.
Taiken 9 Rice ($20) was actually just the normal white rice.
In conclusion, the restaurant started to get crowded around 12:30 p.m. on Friday noon and that was the approximate time I arrived at the place. The prices were quite high because the portion was for more than a person but it was such an amazing experience. The English menu is available. Overall, it’s a 9.5 out of 10!
FYI, 10% service charge is included...
Read moreWhen the restaurant opens, they are immediately filled with reservations! I am happy that I was able to make a reservation in Canada before I travelled to Taiwan using their "Inline" platform online!
We chose the 2 person set menu which includes the duck (freshly carved table-side) with wraps and garnishes, the rest of the duck (more bony pieces), and some duck skin. It also includes choice of 2 small cold appetizers (we enjoyed the gluten appetizer, but not so much the cucumber salad), 1 duck side dish (duck wings, chin, were options), 1 dish from a vegetable heavy section (we chose the fried radish cake - actually so good! As a Cantonese person I have never had such good fried radish cake), 1 meat focused dish (we chose the Golden Tofu Pot which had salted egg yolk flavored sauce with tofu, mushrooms, etc). Recommend that one too! The menu comes with drinks, we chose to add +20 NT per person to have peach tea, which was okay!
Overall, the service was very good and the food flavors were on point. I highly recommend...
Read moreVisited this restaurant with my family and came here specifically for their roasted duck (can't call this peking duck since duck is taiwanese) and there's a visible difference between Peking and Taiwanese.
Peking duck is usually drier (well-done) and the skin is thinner with the fat trimmed off. Taiwanese duck is juicer (medium) and the skin has a slight layer of thin fat. Both are nice. What I especially loved about this restaurant is the skin used to wrap the duck. Most restaurant use ready-made skin wrappers but at XIANG DUCK, the wrappers are freshly made and doesnt taste like frozen wrappers. Its fresh, soft, slightly thicker and has a nice texture to it.
Next, their XO scallop fried rice is bomb. I They use short grain pearl rice and you can taste it grain by grain. Flavorful and skillfully fried.
Lastly, amazing floor staffs. Thank you for the wonderful...
