Goodies Cuisine — Restaurant in Da'an District

I went to Goodies Cafe Bistro with my team from work. We kind of had a year-end lunch since everyone was going to take the rest of the year off. The restaurant is in a great location next to Sogo's on Dunhua North road. I was very surprised on the food it was good. I think the only thing that was a bit strange (and almost un-natural looking was the soup)

Truffle fries were really good...get 2 orders...1 was definitely not enough for our group :).

I had the 14oz rib eye steak which should have been 14 oz steak...but there was no way it was close to that. I think it was more in terms of 6-8 oz steak. Definitely not a 14 oz steak though (a bit disappointing). Even one of my team members commented on how small his steak was too. Think about a 16 oz bottle of coke is pretty large and heavy...this steak was not that. Also, the meat was a bit tough and chewy (definitely not the best steak)

Their desserts were very good. I really liked the layered cake and the lemon tart.

Would I go there again...sure...but it wouldn't be my first choice. It's a nice restaurant/cafe...but they have room for...

The food was very good. We had the black truffle risotto which was perfectly cooked al dente and roast chicken, very tender and tasty. Desserts and drinks were also good. Great service. The only negatives were the timing of the the two main dishes with the risotto arriving well before the chicken. We had to either let the risotto get cold or we would have finished it before the chicken. It was also very noisy when full because there are no soft surfaces and no cloth anywhere. Finally, there was a long yery wavy hair on the table. Since only one server had long hair and it was not wavy, that means that the table was not wiped off well after the last customer left. But, I would give them the benefit of the doubt...

It hurts me a bit to leave this bad review since normally I really like to leave good reviews.

This place is really overpriced for what you actually get. I had the garlic cream noodles and not only was the portion very small, it was also very oily and not going to lie, the noodles looked straight out of instant noodles package.

Lastly we came on Christmas and they raised the minimum price per person to 800 which you can't even reach with most of the set meals they offer. This is not well thought through and feels unfair.

I leave 2 stars since the service was quite nice but all in all I can not recommend this place at all, especially not for the prices they...
