Jimmy's Kitchen — Restaurant in Da'an District

The dinner set includes pre-dinner drinks, bread, soup, salad from the buffet bar, after-dinner drink, and dessert from the buffet bar.

We ordered "Assorted sea-food du gratin", not good at all, most of the fish was not cooked properly. The salad buffet is not particularly impressive. There is tea or coffee after the meal. There are also many choices in the dessert area.

The decoration inside the store is old-school, I personally like it. The service is good, the clerk is very friendly. The pianist plays classic and modern song which I appreciate a lot, however, the small drawback is that if the seat is close to the piano, it is a bit difficult to listen to others talking. Seat chair are not very comfortable .

There were many people coming to celebrate birthdays. The store clerk would sing Happy Birthday and the pianist would also accompany me. I listened to the Happy Birthday song at least 4-5 times throughout the night.

39 years ago my friends sent me off to the USA for study at graduate school. I had my German Roast Hock the very first time in my life. Today, I was surprised that Jimmy's Kitchen is still thriving at the exactly same location. I invited six of my close friends for a reunion. Each of us intentionally had different main course. I had the German Roast Hock. In the end, we are all very satisfied with the food. The salad/fruit/desert bar is a smart move by the owner. It not only enhances the customers' dinning experience, but also help to keep the price down. The choice of house wine also show the taste and wisdom of the owner. We had a bottle of house red wine, and we all like the wine very. The service is swift, polite and unobtrusive. The waiters and waitresses are very observant -- truly 'waiting' at your table. The atmosphere is that of a more educated customer would like to have. The atmosphere music is nostalgic. The live piano play is another kudos. For a roughly $2000 per person price, the C/P value is very very worthy. Reservation is...

In short, this place is spot-on.

🍴Food-wise: Bread is good, salad is fresh and the desserts are also tasty. Most important of all, the steak is cooked to perfection!

🎵Atmosphere Old-fashion decor, yellow lighting with piano music. Quite relaxing.

💁‍♀️Service-wise: All the older staff seem really experienced and professional, coming and taking plates with no noise at all.

At the end a waitress kindly asked us if we want a small plate of fruit, it’s just we didn’t expect that would be 4 kinds of fruits, each with 3-5 pieces.

I felt so bad that we couldn’t stuff it anymore so I guess I should just come here more often to make up for it lol
