It is a blessing that there are more and more exotic restaurants opening here as new immigrants settle down in Taiwan. Now the gourmets from their home towns worldwide are available around our neighborhood. Pondok Sunny, a lovely Indonesia restaurant, is one of these cherishable dinning places.

We tried three combo sets this time: turmeric ayam goreng (fried chicken leg), Redang beef, and sour spicy satay sea food pot. The chicken is crispy on skin and tender inside. Generally, the south east Asia dishes are all about the art to master the seasoning of lemongrass, satay, fish sauce. Pondok Sunny really shines in this perspective. The rich aroma and taste are the truthfully presentation of Indonesian art of cooking.

Ingredients are all fresh; that is particularly true for their sea foods. Noodle is good; relish even before dipping into sauce. Their iconic south east Asian dessert Momochacha is quite impressive.

Nyonya cake is another iconic south east Asian dessert. The nyonya cake here is another home-made recipe, deserved your visiting here for it. A lot of frequent customers like to buy extra for to go. They also provide Indonesia special ingredient cakes; worth to try it.

Overall, their ingredients and seasoning are authentic south east Asian style. They either import them or home-made by themselves. I specially recommend their spicy shrimp paste sauce for dipping -...

I love their sweets more than their salty one! (which used to be called Kue Kue Tradisional).

Their sambal terasi is lack of spices flavor since I taste only salty flavor. (Maybe because its 小辣 one). Should be used fresh sambal except preserved on jar one (I prefer the sambal where you cook and grind it yourself). The chicken is good and tender but too oily, yet I like their yellow rice, so fragrant. Their tempe and anchovy is hard. Maybe their taste-preference for Taiwanese, so when I tried it myself I find it lack of something.

I tried their Cendol too (they called it 錢多錢多, which is unique xD), but for me its quite lack of something. Not enough palm sugar and their santan (coconut milk) still able taste the lump. I believe their cendol is unique since they make it QQ (chewy), not like the Cendol I used to eat in my hometown.

But for their sweets, the Kueh! is worth to try! 娘糕 so great and colorful!!! Its good as a...

I had Kari Laksa and Asem Laksa for dinner tonight, but I think they were not tasted like the original flavour. Laksa is not spicy enough, Asam Laksa taste not like made of Sardine. And I am really curious about As”e”m Laksa or As”a”m Laksa? Is it a typo? Anyway, it’s very clean inside the restaurant, and the pandan chiffon cake is yummy. But, I definitely want to eat Rendang Ayam. How come I only saw Rendang beef at the menu? So disappointed what! 🤣 and I also want curry bun, barley water, lime juice, and gula Melaka, etc. Finally, thank you for operating the restaurant. I am certainly go back there when I miss SG and MYS again and again. And and I strongly recommend the sambal sauce. It’s necessary when you are having southeastern...

The rendang taste ok, the yellow rice need more spices ayam geprek? pretencious .. it is not indonesian style but it's Taiwanese fried chicken that you can find it in the night market. very much dissapointed with the fried chicken. side dishes. Tempe & peanut is too sweet and soggy. Quantity is pretty big the other side dishes doesn't really fit the flavour of the main dish. it probably only for the presentation, environment is clean and comfortable. hopefully can see some improvement in the future

Learned about this place for quite some time but never got the chance to visit. Well, finally made the visit today. It’s almost 2 pm, and it was still open It was an amazing experience to try Southeastern cuisine, especially the famous gorgeous, colorful Nyonya cake. Actually, I went back to get more Nyonya cake for my neighbors. They asked me to take some out for them when they learned I was having my late lunch here.
