Pros: Very good location, about 10-15mins walk from Big City mall and a lot of restaurants around. 3 restaurants and a buffet inside the hotel which was convenient during bad weather or my lazy days. Bed was very comfortable and there are extra pillows in the closet. Breakfast buffet is included with stay. I ate there almost every morning. It ends at 10am. Food is average but not bad for free Wide window with nice view. Very spacious bathroom with shower and tub Smart bidet with auto on fan and heated seat Pretty soundproof as I couldn't hear any noise at night Cons: The glass window was always dirty so I couldn't get a clear perfect picture of the view :( Mini fridge temperature is almost the same as room temperature, it kept drinks barely chilled. If you plan to store any food in there, it will go bad. There's sign says to let staff know if you wanna adjust the temperature but they CAN'T. They will tell you that if you need to store some food, you gotta give it to them and they will store it in their fridge on the 1st floor. Don't use the laundry bag or leave it out unless you want to use the hotel laundry service. When i first arrived there, I changed out my clothes and put them in the laundry bag and left it in the corner, didn't fill out the form or request anything with room service. I didn't even know they took it until the next day they knocked on my door and gave me my clothes. 1 dress, 1 pair of socks and 1 underwear costed 400 and something NTD. No complaints because my company paid for it but I wouldn't be happy if I had to pay for it myself.
More info: Front desk is on 12F You have to take elevator to 12F then take another elevator to go to your room (second elevator need room card to use) A chinese and a steak restaurant on 9F: chinese restaurant was good, didn't try the steak one Hot pot restaurant and buffet are on 12F: i do not recommend the hot pot restaurant as I did not like it, you might like it if you like bland as water soup. Buffet is ok, I heard lunch and dinner are expensive and food is alright so I didn't try, breakfast is free with stay and food is eatable. Their bakery on 1F is alright, not the best but not the worst. If you use any delivery services (uber eats, food panda,..) the driver may be waiting at the back of the hotel. You will have to go through the door next to the elevator and walk through a short hallway to get to their...
Read moreI had my wedding here and the service was horrible for my guests. My sister tried to ask for a cup of water and they told her they didn't have any. Then my guests weren't properly served their wine and I, the groom, went and did it myself since they were all incompetent.
The worst part of the experience was at the end, they "MISPLACED" and put ALL my wedding gifts with a completely different wedding and lost all my wedding gifts. They told us they were able to bring our gifts down to the first floor and put it in our car. Instead, another wedding party said those gifts were theirs and the hotel freely gave away all our gifts and photos and guestbooks to this other couple. I was compensated with a box of nougat candy. They would not offer any real compensation, instead gave excuse after excuse. They kept blaming their employees being young. ..... What??? I'm sorry, how does a hotel at this claimed caliber not even realize that service at weddings can make or break it.
We only realized that the gifts were missing by the time we were home. Called them and they offered no response. So we drove 2 hours back to the venue just to figure out the situation....Again, excuses and placing blame on the young, inexperienced employees.
After hours and hours, we recovered some gifts but who knows if it was all of it or not. It was already taken by a different wedding party.
Clearly, if you are not an important enough of a guest, they will not provide good service.
The only redeeming quality was that the food was good and the venue/decor was passable.
If you're planning on staying at this hotel, keep your things safe. You never know if they're just going to give it away to anybody who...
Read moreI travel frequently in Asia for work and have done so for many years. The Ambassador Hotel in Hsinchu, which was once an upper-class establishment, unfortunately no longer meets the high standards typically expected in Asia. Cost-cutting measures have considerably diminished the quality of the hotel. The rooms are not adequately cleaned, with housekeeping services provided only every two days under the guise of “environmental reasons.” The bathroom amenities are subpar, featuring only a single, low-quality bottle of soap fixed in the shower. This setup is inconvenient, particularly when one requires soap or shampoo while taking a bath, as it necessitates exiting the tub to retrieve the product from the shower. Additionally, the windows in the rooms are exceedingly dirty and poorly insulated. Guests staying in rooms facing the front of the hotel are often disturbed by the noise of passing trains on the railway across the street, which can disrupt sleep. The breakfast offerings are limited and of low quality. For instance, apart from water or milk, the only available cold beverage is a concentrated orange juice served in a carton. The fruit selection is minimal, typically consisting of watermelon and occasionally a small amount of pineapple or another fruit, but never more than two options. Decorative plastic bananas, apples, and grapes are used to enhance the limited presentation. Furthermore, the staff at the lobby have limited proficiency in English. On one occasion, I had to use Google Translate to communicate my request for a taxi to the train station. Overall, the hotel no longer meets the standards expected...
