1709 Cafe' Bar — Restaurant in Hualien City

THIS PLACE IS NOT FOREIGNER FRIENDLY

Visited on a Saturday night for a few beers expecting live music as a friend recommended this place. Bar has a new manager who doesn’t speak any English so we tried to communicate with the limited Chinese we have and offended him somehow... Then he asked us to leave and went outside to smoke with his friends (who also spoke no English) without saying another word.

Not much going on in the neighboring streets too, would recommend heading towards the old train station if you want a good evening...

We actually visited the musical bar, 1709 in late afternoon before we headed back home. Accidentally, the fate brought us to the store when we were absolutely soaking wet due to the extreme heatwave! However, the door were locked and the store manager saw our tiring and wet face with a whole bounch stuff when he opened the door!
