Ye Xiang Bian Shi — Restaurant in Hualien City

We heard many recommendations and even a local recommendation so we decided we must try it.

Summary: It taste just OKAY

Short line at opening of shop at 9:30AM and orders came pretty quick. We just ordered the standard wonton soup.

I don't know if we ordered wrong or what but the meat wontons were the most standard wontons I have eaten. It was fresh. Dough was thin and cooked well. Meat was fully cooked and tasted fresh. But it lacked flavors.

The amount of wontons was fair for the price. But again, my group is Chinese people and we had wontons in many restaurants and these wontons are not worth waiting in line for. They are standard wontons that we could find in any other restaurant.

I was not the one ordering but I told my brother to order the standard wonton bowl so I assume it must be the most popular one.

Anyways. Very disappointing driving there and waiting in line.

Again, if you are closeby then worth checking out. But not worth taking a taxi there or to wait more than 5 mins for this. It is really standard...

Only opens for 3 hours basically but it's sold out. We came here at 1:30pm one day and it was already done. So we came back another day at 11am and we could easily get a seat. By 11:30am all the seats were full. They only sell one thing. These dumpling soups at 70NT each. Must try because this is the specialty of Hualien but not really anything special because it's like wontons soup... Nice on a cold...

Very traditional and famous soup shop in the area, is a must visit place! But be aware that this might take you at least 40 minutes if wait before the hot soup is serve to your table, waiting outside around 15-20 min, and after taking a seats inside wait for another 40-45 min, for 70$/bowl of soup I felt is worth it, so make sure you order 2 bowls since the wait...
