We arrived at Yi Wei around 10 a.m., hoping to savour their hot soy milk and fried buns, but to our dismay, both of these popular items were already sold out. This was disappointing as we had heard great things about these dishes. However, the disappointment dissipated as we explored the rest of the menu. The standout of our breakfast experience was the dumplings. They were generously filled and bursting with flavour. However, they did lean on the oily side, which might not be to everyone's taste. If you don't mind indulging, these dumplings are a must-try. On the other hand, the egg pancake left much to be desired. It was rather bland and lacked the savoury punch we were expecting. I recommend passing this item and opting for something else on the menu. One item that stood out for its uniqueness was the cold soy milk, which came with a heartwarming touch. It's prepared and packed by an elderly grandma incredibly dedicated to her craft despite her advanced age. The cold soy milk was refreshing, and the personal touch added a charm to our meal. Yi Wei Breakfast Restaurant is on the smaller side, so you must be quick with your orders or be prepared to share a table if you decide to dine in. The self-service system where you pick up your food adds to the casual and no-fuss atmosphere of the place.

Amazing traditional Taiwanese breakfast! Ordering here will be difficult if you don’t know Mandarin. We dined in. The shumai and dumplings are located in a case. Take-out orders and dine in orders both grab their dumplings and shumai after sitting down. Waitress will come get your payment based on how many items you’ve chosen as well as will come to take your drink order and your order for the egg pancake. Shumai are the star here- we had the pork with cabbage and the leek only dumplings and felt the pork cabbage ones were better.

Small cozy setting. Had to queue for seats. If there’s queue, food’s good. Indeed. Miso soup is so flavourful and full of ingredients, ordered a 2nd serving! Handmade siew mai and dumplings are great and insanely 15NTD each?! 蛋饼 is crispy, drizzled with the sweet sauce makes it perfectly delicious. Soya milk hits the spot. Perfect place for breakfast. Its self service to pick the buns and dumplings at the station whereas the other food items to order from the staff :) The crowd dies down at around 10.15am onwards.
