I had high hopes for Don Burrito Mexican Restaurant, but overall, the experience was disappointing- especially if you're looking for authentic Mexican food.
The food simply lacked flavor. The salsa was bland and watery, missing the freshness and spice it should have. The guacamole was underwhelming- it had no lime, no salt, and no pepper, leaving it tasting flat. The birria tacos were surprisingly bland and lacked the rich, savory depth you’d expect. The fish tacos were the weakest part of the meal- the fish tasted like frozen fish sticks, with a texture and flavor that didn’t belong in a taco. The chicken burrito was dry and had almost no seasoning. Across the board, the food felt more like low-end Americanized Mexican fast food than anything remotely authentic.
Service was just okay. It felt inattentive, even though the staff were polite. At this price point, I expected a much higher level of both service and food quality. Unfortunately, neither delivered.
I appreciate the effort to create a nice dining environment, but the flavors, execution, and value just weren’t there. I wouldn’t return.
Edit to say: Hi there, thanks for your reply! Just to clarify, I came in with my own experience and impressions. I’ve had the chance to travel through various parts of Mexico, and that’s the only background I have when it comes to judging Mexican food. Of course, every region (and clearly every kitchen!) has its own touch, and I respect that. Taste is subjective, of course, but dismissing feedback entirely doesn’t exactly...

Firstly, I'd like to address your response . It's worth mentioning that the place is a Mexican restaurant that also offers wines(including beers). If the expectation is for customers to maintain a library-like quietness, then I must say I have nothing further to add.
Moving on, even though all of us had already lowered our voices, the waitstaff continued to stare at us disapprovingly. It makes me wonder if this is considered the polite way to treat customers, as you mentioned manners in Taiwan.
Furthermore, our comments primarily revolve around our dissatisfaction with the quality of the dishes and the relatively high prices. I believe I have the right to express my opinion. Therefore, it seems like you may be overly sensitive and attempting to divert attention from the critique of your food by focusing on our Chinese nationality . What is your intention here? Are you trying to turn a simple comment about your customer service and food quality into a political conflict or are you exhibiting discriminatory behavior?
Lastly, I'd like to offer some advice for future customers. If you don't mind being treated as if you own the restaurant a debt , even though you've paid the bill and tip, while eating something that doesn't quite live up to its price, then this restaurant might be a...

After we sat down at a table, a waiter approached us, trying to let us know what's available for the day, including specials and desserts. However, the specials and desserts were very quickly rattled off, as if the waiter had memorized a speech to recite to us, rather than talking to us like guests.
$100 for a such a meager taco! (See picture.) I don't know where the chef got the confidence from, but serving a taco like this at this price definitely takes some guts and marks a disgrace to Mexican cuisine.
Upon finishing our meal, we were sitting at our table chatting. The waiters came to take our plates away. 5 min later, they came again to take our beverage glasses. Another 5 min later, they came to take the unused utensils away. I understand they wanted to make sure to have tables available for other customers, but there were still at least 3 other tables unoccupied at that moment.
I definitely did not feel welcome there.
PS. Based on the reply from the owner, I am not surprised at what I experienced at the restaurant.
PSS. As a gesture of goodwill, if the owner is proud enough to display the picture of the taco that I took on his menu or at his store front, showcasing the dish that s/he so proudly prepared, I am willing to provide the original photo at no...
