FABAO — Restaurant in Kaohsiung

Small update: got some chigger bites eating outside- even with the mosquito incense burning. Though the patio is nice in back, next time I’ll probably get it to go. Was in the 4/5 boarder but this pulls it back to 4. Part of the eating experience is the eating area. ———— original below ———- Have to join the others in giving it a 5. Excellent burger. Many burger places forget that the bun is the foundation of the burger. After all, it’s a sandwich. Nicholas keeps that in mind by making his own French style bun which is a great match for the burger. Then we get to the guts of the burger. We got the ladies beef burger. Basic ingredients but all good. Even the lettuce was fresh and not limp. Nicholas says he does the mayo from scratch. Tastes like it. The lady size was fine for us. We did not get the fries. I actually thought some would be included. Then we got the layered chocolate cake which is layers of French crepes with chocolate. Not too heavy.

Now for the service. The manager was very courteous, patient and polite. And he did a special order and served my wife’s burger un-assembled so she could manage it better.

Setting is decent - outdoor eating in the back so pretty quiet. I enjoy eating outdoors when the weather supports. I wouldn’t come here in the summer, even at night. Bathroom has western toilet but not handicap friendly sine need to step up.

How have I not rated Fabao yet? Jeez, I'm here at least every week or so. It's so convenient to walk or bike, and there's usually even a parking spot next to the school or in the public lot if you're driving. But do I come for the accessibility? No, I come to Fabao for the delicious, artisanal baked bread, topped with fresh beef, grill-smashed, and adorned with delicious cheese. (Taiwan, listen up. This is the cheese police calling. You need more cheeses. Be like Fabao) On top of this meaty colossus are fresh vegetables, a mayo-based spread with a mild kick, and Doritos! Want more? They'll top it with bacon, eggs, even a hash brown. You CAN have breakfast and dinner at the same time! Wash it down with a soft drink, kombucha, or a frosty adult libation. Don't forget the crispy fries!

After I found that place on google maps we gave it a try. And I’ve to say, I’ve got blown away by these awesome burgers. Unfortunately the “Raclette” burger wasn’t available, so I went for the goat cheese burger and my daughter for the lady burger with one combo set. Both burgers were amazing, finger licking good and so juicy. Combined with a really nice bun. Also the fies are super crisp but not dry combined with a kind of “aoli sauce” with great flavor.

Also the little outside dining yard makes the atmosphere really cosy (fan is provided to make it comfortable.

Definitely we will be back again.
