Disappointing experience. Came expecting authentic Indian food. The dishes instead taste reminiscent of watered down Indian dish spiced like mediocre Chinese food in drive-through. Too many styles of curry on menu, none of them very distinct from one another. The curry was tasteless. I am not an expert in Indian cuisine, and I do not expect myself to enjoy every aspect of Indian cuisine, but the food does not have the intensity and force that Indian cuisine is famous for in the use of its spices. The bread was disappointing as well. The bread was thin, crunchy, flaky, and seasoned well. It would have been decent bread anywhere else but Taiwan, where local dishes like 抓餅 (Grab Cake) and 蔥油餅 (Green Onion Cake) perfected this style of bread to the eyes of Taiwanese locals. They could have chosen a more distinctive Indian style of bread, but ended up serving bread that in the eyes of Taiwanese customers, would become a poorly imitated mediocrity. I would have rather spent those calories actually getting 蔥油餅. Service is decent, but the waitress staff does not seem to understand the dishes and has not tasted the dishes. With the price of its dishes, very disappointing,...
Read moreI had a great experience at Maharaja Indian Restaurant. Today, I went to that place with some friends. We opted for a pre-set menu for four people, which was enough to satisfy our hunger. If you're unsure, this may assist you in making a decision. Additionally, you have the option to order other items. Once we sat down, the menu was promptly placed on our table, and soon after, we had it in our possession. In my opinion, this is one of the restaurants in Kaohsiung that offers authentic Indian cuisine. Although it may be a bit expensive, the dining experience you will receive here is definitely worth it. Some of us were not aware that the menu was pre-set and found it to be too spicy. Perhaps we should have kindly reminded the chef about our dietary preferences. Just a friendly reminder that the Indian chef is very accommodating and happy to tailor our dining experience to our preferences. They open in the evening after 5:30. Scooters can park in the available spaces in front. Additionally, there are nearby parking lots that...
Read moreVery good food, friendly staff and fast service. For 5 people it cost around TWD1825 which isn’t bad at all. We ordered masks papads, soup, breads, two kinds of vegetarian curries, one vegetarian biryani and one lamb biryani and finished off with two masala chai. All the food was authentic and tasty. Being first time in Taiwan and touring around, finding this Indian restaurant was really nice. The Chef came out to speak and take our order and spoke with us in Hindi. The hospitality was outstanding. Definitely recommend this fantastic place to eat great...
