As someone who lives abroad, I finally took the opportunity to try the renowned restaurant, Tan-Zuo Ma-Li, during my visit back home.
I had a reservation at 12:00, but I mistakenly thought it was at 11:40 and arrived early. I also got confused with the reservation details and gave the wrong information to the staff, which made it difficult for them to find my booking at first. However, the front desk staff were incredibly friendly and patient, helping me locate the reservation without any hassle.
Once my reservation was confirmed, even though it wasn’t time yet, they didn’t make me wait at all. They seated me right away and patiently explained how to use the iPad for ordering, along with the details of the drinks and soups available on the table.
I waited for about 30 minutes until my friend arrived at 12:15. During this time, several servers checked in to see if I needed anything. After I explained that I was waiting for others, they respectfully left me in peace, which I really appreciated.
As for the food, I was very impressed with the quality of the ingredients. The freshness was evident and, for a barbecue restaurant, fresh ingredients already guarantee half the success. The attention to detail in plating and dish selection, combined with the excellent service, made this dining experience exceptional.
Throughout the meal, whether it was refilling soup, water, or delivering drinks, the staff were consistently friendly and attentive. They provided warm, personalized service without giving off the distant professionalism I sometimes feel in other places.
A special thanks to our server, Mr. 張各志 whose kindness and engaging conversation elevated an already fantastic experience to another level.
The only downside was there wasn’t much free parking available but everything else was totally outweighed the tiny parking price we had to pay.

Shoutout to Liao, who took great care of us! She speaks excellent English, helped us pick the best dishes, gave us some freebies, and even saved us from overordering.
As for the food, the beef is high quality, and there are options for different budgets. Everything we tried was delicious, especially beef tongue and Wagyu beef. The only downside is that it can get really busy, so orders might take a bit longer. Definitely make a reservation through Google Maps to avoid the wait!
