Thai Town Cuisine - Kaohsiung Hanshin Arena Store — Restaurant in Kaohsiung

I am pre-diabetic and I came with a vegetarian. I ordered a Thai iced tea with less sugar and they put some of the sugar on the side. Perfect! The papaya salad (just a hint of spice) and hollow vegetable are both good.

However, we tried to order the pad Thai without shrimp so the vegetarian could eat it. Apparently there are no substitutions or deletions so we skipped it. Why didn’t the menu say that?

We also ordered the ‘healthy’ quinoa rice. It was 85% white rice. I am pre diabetic and careful with sugar (hence the low sugar Thai tea) so this was super annoying. I also could not share my rice because they charge per person and I could not eat much of it .

I speak English but both of my family speak mandarin and Taiwanese so there was no language barrier.

I will leave hungry...

Update 2021: this place has really gone downhill. The food quality dropped dramatically and it's reflected by the empty seats in the restaurant during dinner time while the restaurants next door are packed. Even the jasmine rice is not fragrant.

Update: fyi, the service here is impeccable especially for a regular restaurant chain in Asia.

First thing to do is some math. One of the main reasons they have really good service is to upsell. So unless the set has everything you want, it's most likely not a better deal than a-la-carte.

I don't know all the English names of the food I always get but at the very least, get the Thai jasmine rice!
