Looks a bit like any Italian-style restaurant but with far higher prices and smaller portions. We ordered a shrimp, garlic and asparagus linguine and a smoked salmon fettuccine and none of them were outstanding or special. The pasta were slightly oversalted, but indeed cooked to al dente. Dishing wasn't especially eye-catching either.

The view and the location are obviously better than most of the downtown restaurants, but the 800 TWD for two single pasta dishes is still a bit pricey.

Staff could also adhere a bit to the "bilingual Taiwan by 2030", because the incomprehensible caveman gestures combined with the visibly astound "panic" (despite my efforts communicating in Chinese) caused by the presence of a foreigner at certain staff members do not really make a...

So refreshing to find such a lovely restaurant in Tamsui! Great space, relaxing and cool interior, and a good place to enjoy the sunset from out on the balcony. The food was a delight too, large serving of pasta (vegetable spaghetti was full of veg, al dente pasta and hearty sauce), and the salmon cream fettuccine was excellent. For 450$ you can make it a set with a delicious soup, European style bread and one of the best cappuccinos I’ve had in a while. Oh and a cake too, which was also great. Service was excellent, courteous and helpful. One thing I’d recommend to La Villa though is some tablecloths for the outdoor tables and some cushions on the seats. However, all in all, I highly recommend La Villa. Really nice to be surprised by such good...

La Villa Danshui is located along the Tamsui River and is walkable from Tamsui MRT (about 20 to 30 minutes).

We picked a table facing the other side of the river - which is beautiful. I would guess facing the pier/harbor must be beautiful too.

We ordered a mixed salad, two appetizers and four pastas - I ordered 紅酒牛肉義大利麵 (pasta with beef cubes). The mixed salad is very fresh and taste great. My beef pasta was delicious too. What’s so special about it is they add a kick to it which is very rare in Italian food, but I like it very much, and all my guests loved their pasta too.

Finally, the price, compared to New York City, it’s very reasonable. I would...

A hidden gem waterfront restaurant in Tamsui. It’s quite a walk from the MRT station but it’s so worth it! If you happen to snatch a patio table then you’d get to enjoy the ocean breeze and sound of water hitting the shore. To be frank, I wasn’t expecting the food to be great given that it’s located in such touristy neighborhood. I thoroughly enjoyed the set menu. No complaints for any of the dishes. The bread that came with the soup stood out the most for me, it’s what you’d find in a professional bakery, freshly baked and just the right amount of bite to it.
