"Tsui Customs Terminal" is located in Tamsui District, New Taipei City. It was one of Taiwan's major trading ports during the late Qing Dynasty and the Japanese colonial period, and witnessed the prosperity and commercial development of Tamsui Port. Read more淡水海關碼頭位在淡水區中正路259號、紅毛城對面,連接淡水老街河岸的最底端,全長150公尺、占地2771坪,碼頭上現在還可見到當年船隻停泊的繫船柱。於2000年6月27日公告為市定古蹟、類別為碼頭,面積9,248平方公尺,由新北市政府文化局管理。
1861年7月,英國副領事郇和(Robert Swinhoe)來臺勘察後,以淡水港較臺灣所有其他各港,具有更大的便益,於是議定以滬尾為通商碼頭,洋船也開始停泊於淡水。當時臺灣仍隸屬於福建省,因此,設關事宜交由福建候補道區天民負責辦理。1862年7月28日(同治元年6月22日),區天民以滬尾守備署開設海關,正式收稅。
