Stumbled upon 'Hometown BBQ Chicken' while exploring the vibrant night market of Taipei, and it was an absolute treat! The stall, bustling with energy and mouth-watering aromas, offers an array of BBQ grilled meats that are a feast for the senses.
The picture I'm sharing only half captures the lively atmosphere and the tantalizing selection on offer. Each skewer is cooked to perfection, with flavors that tell a story of traditional Taiwanese BBQ with every bite. From succulent chicken to a variety of other meats, everything is grilled right in front of you, adding an element of excitement to the experience.
What I appreciated most about Hometown BBQ Chicken was the freshness of their ingredients and the skill with which they're cooked. The staff at the stall are masters of their craft, ensuring each piece is seasoned and cooked to bring out the best flavors.
If you find yourself in Taipei's night market, don't walk past this gem. It's a perfect spot to indulge in some local cuisine, mingle with the locals, and enjoy the lively night market scene. Hometown BBQ Chicken is not just about the food; it's about the experience that accompanies it. Highly recommended for a casual, delicious bite that truly represents the spirit of Taipei's street...
Read moreThis has to be the most ridiculous queue you find in Shilin Market. The stall is located almost at the corner of the junction and you can see a long queue from the stall all the way to the traffic junction towards Jiantan Metro station. I heard this is a "must try" stall and of course I had to join the queue to see what the hype is about. And I did not regret it because it is simply the best chicken I have ever eaten! Queue was very long but it moved quite a bit every few minutes so you don't get frustrated when the queue doesn't move. Ordering was easy you just give the quantity and how spicy you want it to be. For 95 TWD initially I thought it was slightly expensive but I think the size of it justifies for the price. The chicken was really big, thick and juicy and it was very well deep fried and then put on a grill with some sauce. I was very impressed that the chicken was so juicy despite being deep fried. There wasn't any bite which I felt the chicken was dry the meat was very consistent throughout. I liked the sauce a lot thought it wasn't much it gave the flavour to the meat and was perfect. Definitely recommend to queue and try maybe it will be your best fried...
Read moreOne of the most popular stalls here at ShiLin night market. There are always long lines here. However, the lines do move fairly quickly.
Honestly, the chicken tastes good but there's nothing special about it. Its breaded and fried chicken thats dipped into a sauce and then grilled.
The business model is so easy to copy so I'm surprised there's no other stalls selling similar chicken chops.
It's 100 NTD for 1 piece.
They are clean. I see the guy grilling scrub the grill between each round of chicken and the oil to fry the chicken isn't black. However, I do see the workers smoke sitting right there next to the unfriended chicken. I'm sure trace amount of cigarette ashes make its way into the chicken batter.
I'm glad I tried it but I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this night market just for this chicken. It's...
