(Update: In addition to the comments below, I'm now also feeling really sick just a few hours after today's meal. Imagine paying $900 per head, leaving with stomach only half-full, and still getting an upset stomach...)
I had given this branch four stars earlier, but now I am forced to change the rating to one star. The quality has deteriorated rapidly. I had a deplorable visit today.
I am confident that the majority of the food here isn't prepared fresh; it's mostly frozen stuff that's reheated/recooked. In my veg biriyani, there was a distinct frozen vegetables taste. The pakoras also seemed stale on the inside. Freezing and reheating is the only way they can have so many items on the menu with just a few people in the kitchen. And I'm not willing to pay $400 per dish for reheated items, since there is a very noticable loss in taste and quality.
I ordered a lot of dishes today and decided to leave without a full stomach, and didn't even bother packing up the leftovers. That's how bad it was! To add, there was a 10% service charge, for service that I didn't get. I asked them to change the raita as it tasted spoilt (my friend thought the same as well), and was told that's just how it is. The classic 沒辦法 response.
In my opinion, this is what happens when the original restaurant owner is absent from the restaurant. The "cooks" hired to run the restaurant are not of the high quality that Mayur's restaurants used to be. Take your money elsewhere - there are lots of owner-ran Indian...
Read moreMayur Indian Kitchen MIK-2 offers one of the most authentic Indian dining experiences in Taipei, and this particular branch on Minsheng East Road elevates it with a refined, fine-dining atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance feels cozy yet sophisticated—ideal for anything from a casual dinner with friends to a special evening out.
The menu is impressively diverse, covering both North and South Indian classics. Whether you’re craving crispy dosas, creamy butter chicken, spicy vindaloo, or a comforting bowl of sambar with idli, MIK-2 delivers bold, balanced flavors. The naan bread is a must-try—especially the garlic and cheese options, which arrive hot, fluffy, and perfect for scooping up curry.
Service is friendly and attentive, with staff who are happy to explain dishes and offer recommendations. Food arrives promptly and well-presented. The restaurant is also halal-certified, making it a great option for a broader range of diners.
If there’s one critique, it might be that prices are slightly higher than casual Indian spots in Taipei—but considering the quality, ambiance, and authenticity, it feels justified.
In summary, MIK-2 is a reliable choice for genuine Indian cuisine served in an upscale setting. It’s a place where both newcomers to Indian food and longtime fans can find...
Read moreAlways a fan of chef Mayur’s food & thematic restaurants. Interestingly, after you have visited more than half of them, you already learn to identify their flavor and quality. For me, the best experience is attending personally to the restaurant and dine there, it’s nice for you and friends , colleagues, and foreigners visiting Taiwan who haven’t really tried authentic Indian food.
In this occasion, after visiting their (10/10 stars) restaurant in Zhubei, my boyfriend had the great idea to take his colleagues to dine here. I must say it was phenomenal in every aspect. Chef Mayur even went to our table and greeted us, the service was superb, the flavor was awesome and spicy as we like it (this unique requirement is so hard to find in Taiwan). One of our friends even ordered the highest level of spice which was amazing. This same friend mentioned something about probably improving a little bit in the cocktail department, however I personally enjoyed my drinks.
As always the winner dishes: lamb biryani and butter chicken, which are all time favorites and always slow cooked and well prepared.
In short, we will keep on coming, eating here and bringing more people. This is hands down the best Indian food you’ll have in Taiwan, I will say this on every review. Keep up the amazing work Mayur and...
