Not sure if quality has gone down in covid era or always like this. First time going and most likely will not be going again. Ordered combo meal off of fun now, which included Original Soup Dumplings x8, Fried Rice, Dessert Buns, and Drunken Chicken. Soup dumplings and fried rice came out rather quickly, but the soup dumpling skin was somewhat dry/ undercooked, and the filling seemed grainy and underwhelming. Fried rice was very good though. After we finished these two items, it took maybe another 10 minutes to get any wait staff to notice that we've been without food and had to remind them that our cold dish didn't arrive yet. It seems they were quite busy with takeout orders as the interior was probably half full or less. Dessert buns were pretty standard. Drunken chicken wasn't bad.
Overall, for someone trying to be at least on-par with, and claiming to be superior to Din Tai Fung, their lack of service and undercooked dumpling skin were a far cry from expectations. Not sure if the main branch fares any better. The glamorous interior decoration doesn't make up for the...
Read moreWe visited Hang Zhou Xiao Long Bao (Minsheng) with high hopes — and to be fair, the food was actually pretty decent. The xiao long bao and other dishes were flavourful and well-executed, so credit where it’s due to the kitchen team.
Unfortunately, the experience was completely overshadowed by the terrible service. The staff actively ignored us, even when we waved clearly to get their attention. It wasn’t just inattentiveness — it felt intentional. And when someone finally did respond, the attitude was shockingly rude.
It’s a shame, because the food alone could have made this a solid spot. But the unwelcoming, borderline hostile service made it hard to enjoy the meal. If they could improve the front-of-house experience, this place would be worth recommending — but for now, go in with very low expectations on service, or...
Read moreThis is one of the OG Xiaolongbao restaurants in Taipei. In addition to offering various types of unique fillings of xiaolongbao, its side dishes are famously offered in limited supply. When you are guided to your seats, the host will offer a picture list of 12 side dishes on a menu. However, only those side dishes that are with a check mark are available. As an example, we got there at 6pm and only 2 were checked out of 12. Also, unlike other xiaolongbao places, this restaurant offers a long list of other favorite dishes such as sweet and sour pork etc. lastly, before you end your meal, be sure to order the mochi red bean paste or the chocolate xiaolongbao. They are a wonderful ending to...
