不二糕餅 — Restaurant in Taichung

Cake they offer is from taiwan as originals. However, not easy to find good one in taiwan. This shop does deliver excellent Taiwanese tranditional flavour. Texture overall is very good. Can tell from the pastry that not crunchy not soft not greasy not too sweet but stand out the flagrant of the egg yoke. Stuffing is challenging because of azuki bean paste is difficult to make. If quality of the bean is not good then no flavour in the paste. If cook skill not good then texture not good. That's why some shops add jujube paste to save works. Chanced upon their popup at the departmental store and it was sold out (at 4pm) so we decided to return the next morning to try our luck. Managed to get the 蛋黄酥 and 茶凤凰。would have wanted to try the 柠月酥 but it was sold out at 11.30am 😅

The 蛋黄酥 were really good. The savoury salted egg went so well with the red bean. The overall combo wasn’t too sweet and great with a cuppa tea. We had it cold (was good) and heated up (recommended!). The crust was light and the base had a good crunch.

This bakery makes delicious chinese pastries. I love their eggyolk pastry (dan huang su) and matcha eggyolk pineapple cake. The crust of the salted eggyolk pastry is buttery and flaky smooth. It has a good proportion between crust, sweet red bean paste, and oily salted eggyolk. The pineapple cake has smooth crumbly crust with matcha flavour, filled with generous amount of salted eggyolk and layered with pineapple jam. A must try if you are...
