Miyahara Ice Cream = TWD120 Consists of: Single Scoop (Salted Caramel) (+TWD100) Waffle Bowl (+TWD20) 1 Free Topping (Nut-Hugging Bear Cookie)
No Service Charge
Miyahara is a Former Ophthalmologist Clinic opened in 1927 by a Japanese Optician, Dr Takekuma Miyahara 宮原武熊. Today, it is More Well-Known as a Pastry Gift Shop and Ice Cream Palour in Taiwan Taichung.
The Most Distinctive Thing about this place is that it really looks like Hogwarts in the Harry Potter series of Films! Hahaha! Tell me does this place not remind you of Hogwarts?
Salted Caramel Flavour Ice-Cream
Ordered this because this is Considered one of their Signature that also doesn't Cost Extra. Although only 1 Scoop, I thought it was a Relatively Large Scoop. Drizzled Beautifully with Honey, the Caramel Taste is Neither Overly Strong nor Overly Sweet. Soft and Creamy, this tastes like its Freshly Handmade, not some Pre-Made Factory Frozen Product. There is a Very Slight Saltiness that is also Not Overly Salty. Very Nice Tasting.
Waffle Cup
Has a Nice Crunchy Biscuity Taste and is Slightly Sweet but Not Overly So. If you've eaten such Waffle Cups before, it tastes exactly how you'd imagine it to taste. I do recommend to choose this because for just an Extra TWD10 (S$0.40) it was quite a Large One and you can use it to eat your Ice-Cream like an Edible Crunchy Biscuit Spoon. Delicious!
Nut-Hugging Bear Cookie (Free Topping)
Chose this simply because its so Adorable Cute no? Its a Good Tasting Butter Cookie with an Almond Nut. Although not the Super Buttery Danish Type, it was still Good Tasting. Bite Texture had a Slight Firm Bite and Pairs very Well with this Salted Caramel. This Topping felt worth the Money because it is a Full Biscuit compared to some Cheap Sprinkles.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At a Total Combined Price of TWD120 (S$4.90) for a 1 Scoop Ice-Cream with a Waffle Bowl and 1 Topping is Not Exactly Cheap, but I feel it is reasonable because it does taste Delicious. Now I'm not a Ice-Cream Connoiseur and I really shouldn't be eating this due to my Condition but I still enjoyed it as an Occasional Treat.
The Only Regret I have is that I should have totally chosen a Different Coloured Flavour for my Ice Cream or Topping because all the Items I chosen (Ice Cream + Waffle Cup + Topping) are a Uniform Beige Colour! Hahaha!
If I have to be Completely Honest, this Place is Obviously more Touristy but then again, when you're Overseas, just be a Tourist. Not everything must Die Die get Every Single Cent out of your Purchase. Live a Little! This Place itself has Significant Historical Value so there's that too. The Staffs are Professional, Friendly and Polite and I have no issues with the Customer Service at all.
Personally for me, I love this place just because of the Harry Potter Hogwarts Vibe it gave me. Really Beautiful Place. The Main Building Interior really looks so much like Hogwarts that I reckon you were to take a Selfie in here and post on your Social Media, people might actually believe that you actually went to Hogwarts itself!

As soon as you enter, you pick your ice cream flavors, pay, then choose your toppings — and you’re good to go.
The shop looks large from the outside but is actually quite small inside. Ice cream is available in single, double, or triple scoops, and you can also add waffles or a sundae. Toppings are free, but the variety is impressive — not your typical ice cream toppings.
There’s a wide selection of ice cream flavors. I went for the Miyahara Special and wanted to try something with coffee. I tried three flavors:
• Raisins Mascarpone – This one was good. The raisins added just the right amount of sweetness and tangy taste, and the mascarpone gave it a nice savory balance. Additional NT$10, part of the Miyahara Special.
• Honey Cheese – My personal favorite. It had the perfect balance of sweet and salty, making it the tastiest of the three. Additional NT$10, also part of the Miyahara Special.
• Tiramisu – This one costs an extra NT$20 and had a strong coffee flavor that made it quite bitter. Personally, I didn’t enjoy it, as I think desserts that are too bitter lose their enjoyment.
For toppings, I chose rum raisins and pumpkin seeds. Both were great — the raisins weren’t too dry, and the pumpkin seeds were still crunchy. Despite being free, the toppings were generous.
After getting our ice cream, we left right away since there’s no seating available. Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to bring the ice cream into Miyahara Café either — you can only stand about 2–3 meters from the entrance door.
For that price, I think they should offer some seating, some benches at terrace/semi-outdoor would make a big diffrence. Especially since ice cream isn’t something you can take home — it has to be...
