Read moreSome might say that going to this market allows you to emmerse yourself in a "cultural experience and environment" but for me it was alleyway after alleyway of dirty markets. I do not understand why people would line up outside for it to open, I found nothing that looked edible (or decent enough to eat). The stores with clothing in it didn't look clean and the smell of the market was horrible! I came to this market with high hopes and an open mind and found myself holding my breath and walking around discouraged. I would not reccomend going here or making it a travel destination at all. Read moreVisited on a weekday morning around 10am to find roughly 2/3 of the shops closed. The food shops that were open though were busy with locals popping in and out. Note there is a mini indoor 'food court' space with 5-6 open kitchens where you can see them making food fresh (like a nightmarket)
We got the radish cake mix (radish, taro, fishcake) for breakfast which had a long line of locals. You could tell the radish cake was freshly homemade, softer than what I've had at dim sim shops. Was paired with a delicious savoury-sweet soy sauce. Would get again.
