AIC 冰淇淋 Artisan Ice Cream — Restaurant in Tainan

Absolutely LOVED this place! The ice cream was amazing – super fresh, with no additives or preservatives, and you can taste the difference. The flavors spotlight local Taiwanese ingredients. We tried one made from a special Taiwanese tea and another based on a multi-grain breakfast cereal popular here. Can’t remember the name of the flavors but if you ask them they’ll tell you about the featured flavors, which change depending on seasonality and is part of what makes this place cool. Really clear that they are passionate about making unique artisanal ice cream. Both flavors we had were delicious. Not overly sweet the way some dessert shops can be, balanced, but still super flavorful.

What really made this visit special were the guys who run the shop— Dennis and Ethan. Super chill dudes– they spent time chatting with us about Taiwan and what there is to explore and appreciate during our stay.

The shop itself is a cozy spot in Asakusa market along the pedestrian area. Of all the dessert places I’ve been to in Tainan, this one has been my favorite— and that is saying a lot because if you have a sweet tooth like me everything is amazing here lol.

I recently visited an incredible ice cream shop in Tainan, and I must say it was an exceptional experience! This bright and conveniently located gem has been around for just eight months, but it has already made a remarkable impression.

The customer service here is truly unique. The staff are not just friendly, but also extremely knowledgeable about their ice cream. They provided fantastic recommendations on flavor pairings and even advised on the best order to enjoy them. For instance, we ordered pistachio and chocolate ice cream, as well as a chocolate whiskey and sea salt pistachio combination. The staff thoughtfully suggested eating one flavor before the other to avoid numbing our taste buds, which was such a considerate touch!

Both shop owners speak Chinese and English fluently, making it easy for a diverse range of customers to enjoy their visit. The environment is vibrant and welcoming, creating the perfect setting to indulge in their delightful homemade ice cream.

This is a wonderful ice cream shop with amazing flavors available. The owners are great and I had a very interesting conversation with one of them a while back talking about the shop and their ice cream.
