艋舺熱海 海鮮餐廳 — Restaurant in Taipei

Enter at your own risk! This shop brings shame to the entire neighborhood of Wanhua (萬華).

We walked into the place randomly. Since it's seafood, we knew it won't be cheap. We told them we have only 3000NT (~US$100) on us, and the "lady" (presumably boss) said for 2 adults and 2 kids, we won't spend that much.

Then the food came: shrimp, chicken, crab, calamari, and clams. Most were good, but the crab didn't taste fresh at all. We shared that feedback as we asked them to pack up the leftovers: crab & chicken. Then the "lady" came and said the crab is fresh and airfreighted from Indonesia. She had a taste and thought it was fresh.

She said she'd only charge us half for the crab, 800NT, which meant the original price tag was 1600NT. Then the final bill came - 2350NT, and the waitress withheld the itemized list. So now the original bill was 3150NT, above the 3000NT budget and above what the "lady" believed we'd spend.

I didn't want to deal with the hassle, paid, and they were generous to give us 700NT in change, but provided no receipt (發票). We took the leftover home and then found out they didn't pack up the crab. What a convenient way to destroy evidence of shadiness!

So, save yourself some sanity. Don't let the facade and celebrity signatures fool you. Steer clear of this place. There are better places to eat in 艋舺. This shop is definitely not one of...

The Best dinner I have for the 7 days in Taipei, they are quite unique, they don't really let you pick the menu, they just ask for you budget per head (ranging from NT900, NT1,200, NT1,500 or NT1,800).
