I have read some bad reviews on this hotel, especially on bad service, but didn't expect to experience it myself right from check-in. Approached a counter staff to check-in as there was no one in the queue but was brushed off by her - she gestured me to her colleagues and continued to look down at her documents without any eye contact throughout. Was surprised and went to her 3 colleagues on her right, but they continued to chat among themselves and I was ignored. Was really surprised, I was all friendly at first but now had to raise my voice (sadly) to ask for check-in before they decide to attend to me. There was absolutely no smile from any of the staff. The hotel had a weird system of going to a second queue to collect the cards and while in the queue, i witnessed an annoyed customer raising his voice to complain. One can imagine how many customers are annoyed by this hotel's bad service daily. The hotel has managed to prove all the bad reviews right.
I can brush the bad service off if the room was good but unfortunately it was not. Got assigned a room with 'elegance' theme on a high floor and the carpet floor was old and dirty. There was no way you can walk around without wearing the disposable sandals. The bathroom and toilet are separated and there are 2 sinks situated outside. The floor of the sink area is sticky and dirty. I would advise asking for rooms with non-carpet floor as the hotel is obviously unable to maintain the cleanliness of carpet floors. The walls are dirty and have cracks on them.
The saving grace for this hotel is its location - it's less than a 5-min walk from Longshan temple MRT and TRA Wanhua station is just directly below the hotel. There is a small family mart at level 1 and there is a 7-eleven beside the hotel. However, you can spot homeless folks sleeping at the external perimeter of the hotel at night. There are alot of homeless folks near the temple and MRT and there are also drunk folks who have issues walking straight. The area around the hotel is also very quiet at night. Though it was not an issue for me but I would advice solo female traveller or group without any male to avoid choosing this hotel for safety concerns.
Would I choose this hotel again? Definitely NO, no matter how cheap it is. Dun be swayed by the promotion, there are enough bad reviews online. If you are lucky, your stay might be okay. But if you are unlucky like me, then you will regret. I'm not sure how this hotel is '5-star', this is definitely the worst 5-star hotel I have stayed in. The 3-star hotel that I've stayed in Taichung is 100% better than this "5-star" hotel on all aspects....
Read moreI’m currently still staying in this hotel but I’m very fed up with the hotel. I booked a Deluxe Room (twin bed) which is more expensive than a Superior Room, for 8 nights. The room size turned out to be smaller than the Superior Room (double bed) I stayed in 2023 (see both videos). I asked them to change the room for me but they refused. And did not give me any explanation on the room size. And look at the TV screen. This room was booked by a Ms Park, not me. I took the photo of the TV on the 3rd day because we did not turn on the TV the last 2 days. How can the hotel give me a smaller room that wasn’t booked by me? This is my 4th time staying in this hotel and I won’t come back again. Will not recommend this hotel too! The only reason I gave 3 stars for the service is because of the nice housekeeping lady. Oh and when I requested for 3 extra pillows (2 for me 1 for my friend), they said that they would charge for a 3rd pillow. Does the hotel not have enough pillows to try to make money from one extra pillow?
Edit: I don’t know how to reply to the owner’s reply so have to edit here. Like I said, I am still staying in this hotel now. I checked in on 10th April and will only check out on 18th April. Instead of asking me to come back to give me better experience, why can’t the hotel give me the good experience now? I have 5 more nights here for you to improve my experience.
Edit 2: the hotel duty manager contacted me on 14 April and offered to upgrade my room from 16 April as they were fully booked. I did not take up the offer as it was too tedious for me to pack and unpack then pack my luggage again just for 2 nights of stay. I also corrected him when he said that the hotel gave me an upgrade to higher tier room, when in fact I paid for the higher tier room (deluxe room) for 8 nights. If you’re given room number that ends with 31, I suggest you don’t take it even if it’s an upgrade as the room has a protruding pillar out of nowhere and the corridor was narrower than other rooms (I stayed here 4 times already and tried other room type). As for the pillow issue, I told the duty manager to reflect to their management and review the policy of charging a 3rd pillow for guests, especially for guests who are staying for long period. Nevertheless, I applaud the duty manager’s patience to listen to my complaints and offered upgrades to my room the next time I stay. Hopefully they won’t disappoint me if I were...
Read moreAfter months of booking and cancelling and choosing for hotel options for our Taipei trip, I finally booked 6 nights with Caesar Metro Taipei because of its price, location, good reviews, and facilities. My family of 5 - 2 adults and 3 children ages 11, 8, and 4yo had a pleasant stay in the hotel's Family Suite. It has 2 queen sized beds (150x200cm), 4 pillows and 2 comforters. We asked for an extra pillow and comforter and they were given right away. There is free drinking water in the 19th floor where we stayed and we refilled ice for our water bottles from the 17th floor where they have an icemaker. They will not deliver to your door. The beds are comfortable and the sofa in our room had very good cushion and not sagging. The CR had a Japanese toilet (we all enjoyed it) and a spacious bath tub with an incredible view of the mountains surrounding Taipei. I had to buy several bath bombs from Don Don Donki in Ximending to further enjoy the tub for my children. The shower has good pressure but you have to wait a few minutes for the water to become warm/hot. Room and CR were clean but there is a bit of dust on some surfaces. We had a bad experience during check in. We were there at 3pm but we only had our room at 430pm. They gave us 4 Starbucks GCs (4 drinks you can redeem at the 5f where they have an automatic coffee machine of Starbucks beans) and we were allowed to check out one hour later on our departure date. So instead of 12nn, we can check out at 1pm because of their delay in check in. The hotel is in a quiet area but we greatly benefited from its location that is only 2 min walk from the TRA Wanhua station that is only one station away from Taipei Main Station. Because of this, we never used Uber or taxi. My family and I used the metro and the bus in our entire stay! I loved the experience. The bus station is right in front of the hotel's side entrance. There are also lots of options in google maps to commute because the hotel has a great location. Overall, I will really recommend this hotel because of its cleanliness, safety, excellent room layout, room views, location (you can use the TRA until 12mn which is useful if you are visiting night markets), and luxurious feel (lobby entrance, clean elevators and hallways) of the hotel. Thank you Agoda for this excellent booking. It made our Taiwan...
