Larriere-cour — Restaurant in Taipei

The whiskey was great - the explanation and the options given were right on point. The selection on the wall was extensive. Very impressive. Thank you to the bartender in glasses and hat tonight. The other waiters (other than the short woman in glasses and the male bartenders) - their service was horrible. After the initial order, it took 15 minutes for them to ask for which drink we would like, which happened after I said I want a drink. It took additional 15 minutes later to have my cup refilled with water, which one of the waitresses/bartenders saw me drinking out of my own bottled water. I barely saw their faces because they were too busy chitchatting with customers at the bar the whole time - approximately 2 hours. The table seats...

Large selection, decent atmosphere. First guy who greeted us was very aggressive, looked at my date like she was crazy when she said she didn't know much about whisky and didn't know what she wanted. I then asked if they had nikka coffee grain and he said no, then recommended something that was supposedly very similar but couldn't have been more different. It was also 1200NT, which is fine, but not for something you don't like. I had one sip and they still charged me. Bartender made my date a decent cocktail so I decided to go for an old fashioned and it was pretty much all bitters... Oh well, on to...

Terrific whiskey bar - passionateand knowledgeable staff, wide varieties, and relaxed atmosphere. They do have a food menu, but let's face it, you didn't come here to eat (and if you did, don't expect too much - food is serviceable but nothing to write home about). Whiskey is the star here! 6 of us ended up with approximately $8000NT (each of us got about two to three drinks and we shared a couple plates of snacks). Price is pretty on par with what you'd expect.

Tip: there's a small alcove room right by the entrance. Perfect for a small group of 6 to 8 people if you don't want to...
