無向 Bar Without Anhe — Restaurant in Taipei

Atmosphere 6.5/10 Minimalistic / modern bar interior design, which is very popular in Asia lately. Layout is focused around the main bar with some table seating close by. Average backbar. Atmosphere didn’t feel special. Good music and pleasant volume.

Drinks 5/10 Recommendation: Apple Tea Without (smokey appletini) Interesting menu with drink selections from the Bartender competition, which the owner of this bar prepared to win 3rd place in the Worldclass Bartending award. However, the drink I tried from that menu did not convince me. The second, standard menu, has some good drinks on it. Decent glassware. No coasters and very simple presentation.

Service 7.5/10 Water served immediately. Plus points for a welcome drink. Prices are above average for Taipei.

Was looking forward to trying this place out but unfortunately the bad attitude of the hostess was enough to not want to bother.

We show up without a reservation at their opening time, it’s raining, the bar is totally empty. We ask if we can still have seats, hostess asks us to wait outside while she checks, and I say, “it’s a little annoying to wait outside because it’s raining.” (This shop doesn’t have a canopy outside the door) She replies, “yeah, it’s raining.” 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Love the space and would return again. The concept of choosing drinks by feel is neat. Would give it 4.5 because the first cocktail was quite interesting and complex. But the second cocktail was less than ideal, at this price range a cocktail should never be the combination of two pre-mixes (overly sweet at that).
