As someone who grew up around San Francisco, I have a soft spot for anything sourdough. Having also spent a long time in New York City, their pizza is a reasonable marriage of both coasts. I've had one good experience here and one bad one. The first time, someone (perhaps the owner or manager) greeted me warmly. The grandmotherly lady working with him was extremely polite and gentle. Last night I stopped by for dinner. I live on the other side of Taipei, so going there in the rain for some pizza is quite a pilgrimage. Upon arriving, I noticed that there was only a slice left for each of the slices I wanted. Since they looked cold and hard, I asked the cashier what pizzas were coming out of the oven next. She was eating her own slice of pizza while taking my order, which was weird. Anyway, she answered pepperoni and cheese, which was fine by me, so I said I could wait. The cheese came out first, piping hot. She handed me the slice and I ate while waiting for the next slice. Meanwhile, customers who had ordered after me got their hot and fresh slices--no problem. When I was done with my first slice, I went to the counter to ask for the second. The cashier said it was in the oven being reheated, even though it had just come out minutes ago. Odd. I politely asked if I could just have one of the warm slices in the window, not wanting to burn my mouth again. She gave me the BIGGEST stank face in memory, to such a degree that I had to hold back my laughter. I know young people around the world don't have much of a sense of manners or diplomacy at this point, but it seems like this young lady needs someone to have a conversation with her...
Read moreThe Slice Shop in Taipei is a cozy, no-frills pizza stand that delivers a true New York–style grab-and-go experience. The storefront is minimal—just two narrow standing tables and a walk-up order/pickup window—which immediately sets the tone: it's all about the pizza. The menu includes a few classic staples alongside rotating seasonal options, which keeps things interesting for repeat visits.
Slices range from NT$130 to NT$180, which might feel steep by local standards, but the quality more than justifies the price. The crust is a standout—sourdough-based, beautifully charred, and balances perfectly with the generous toppings. Every bite shows thoughtfulness in proportion and flavor. Their roast beef and cheese combo, for instance, is rich without being overwhelming.
That said, there's a notable downside. During peak mealtimes, the selection shrinks drastically. Despite a menu of six or seven pizzas, only two or three are typically available, and customers aren’t allowed to wait for upcoming batches. This has happened on both of my visits and suggests a bottleneck in their prep or inventory flow. For this reason, I’m deducting one star—but I’ll be back. The quality is worth watching, and I’m hopeful they’ll improve the...

I can’t believe a pizza with no meat can be this good! The Dill Pickle, Garlic, Cream, and Cheese combo? Mind-blowing. 🤯😳😍🥳🤩 Each slice is big enough to fill you up, but every time I go, I still end up eating 3 to 5 slices on my own—it’s just that addictive!
The classics like Cheese, Spicy Sausages, and Pepperoni? All 🔥🔥🔥 You just keep wanting more! The sourdough crust? Top-notch. Fresh ingredients? Superb. Every bite is a whole experience.
They also have chili oil that packs a serious punch, probably made from Ghost Pepper, and it’s insanely good. I love dipping the crust in it—it adds the perfect kick. Normally, I’d leave the crust behind, but at this place, I end up eating every last bite.
I prefer dining in rather than taking away. The space is small—more of a quick & casual dine-in vibe—but honestly, I love it. It adds to the experience! The queue can get long during peak hours, but their service is lightning fast. Never once did I feel like I was waiting too long. Great food, great vibe,...
