THE WALL MUSIC — Restaurant in Taipei

Went to the wall to see one of my favourite English underground (but now well known) miscellaneous but progressive, funky and jazzy EDM artists Four Tet. I was very excited to get there and had taken a day off work; prepared myself appropriately etc. I told my friend about this and they were obviously intrigued by the music, so we met there but to our dismay all of the tickets were sold out. Unable to get any more, we ate some dumplings and watched this film about USA vs Russia in submarines, which made me feel like I had lived in a submarine (which isn't very nice, take it from me) but was otherwise pretty good. The main guy was such a submarine expert and he ended up befriending this Russian submarine expert who nearly died, but he saved him because they were supposed to be enemies, because this main Russian military geezer was staging a coup or something right, but nobody else knew about it except for this special submarine guy or something - spoilers haha oops.

Saw/heard the band Japanese Breakfast here. Enjoyed the band and the venue. Great music space for Taipei. It's all underground (literally if not figuratively - OK, maybe figuratively, too) but sounds good and the air is fresh. Hard to fathom that I bought ticket for show at FamilyMart convenience store, but that's my foreignness talking. I did try dropping by the venue for a ticket because at the time Google Maps noted it opened at 3pm but I found it still closed at 4-4:30 pm. I didn’t know if advanced tickets were available at site; I went on an assumption. Anyway, got tix and enjoyed. See you there next time...

Great 2/3 room underground space dedicated to techno (and a bit of house). Sprawling concrete basement with minimal lighting and functional layout. Sound system could really do with an upgrade but that doesn't detract from a really good crowd & solid local / visiting DJs.

All visitors need to show some kind of photo ID on the door, and there are clothing / bag lockers available (3x$10 coins to unlock). Cheap speed rail booze will give you a raging hangover, so pay extra for the back shelf brands and spare...
