Woolloomooloo Dazhi — Restaurant in Taipei

The place is relatively small, about 10 tables, including a big scared table in the back. The music is a bit awkward for a coffee shop, but not too loud. The chairs are cushioned but they have this vacuum on the lumbar area that makes you feel like unsupported. I hate them. The salt shaker is this fancy salt shaker that you have to twist and the salt comes in chunks; too hippie for me. Coffee was good. I ordered a flat white and was expecting less foam but I really dug it. Food: I ordered an avocado toast. 9/10... the one point missing is that it said smashed avocado in the menu but it came in cubes. All falls off once you start indulging. The taste, however, was beyond expectations. Very, very good. The bread overall and the consistency of the poached eggs... They were overcooked according to experts 😂 but I love that. I also ordered homemade yogurt with fruit. Great choice! It was topped with mint leaves which gave it a fancy touch. My wife had another type of poached eggs with a Sichuan sauce. Went to this place to grab coffee, and was surprised when the Barista handed me a hot latte instead of an iced one, which is what I ordered. When I double checked with her, she said "you must have placed the wrong order at the first place cuz the price is different."

How is it my fault when I clearly am not the one working there and knows Thier menu/price like they do? Instead of checking with her co-worker who took our order, she gave me this super arrogant and ignorant response..

Not to mention when my friend tried to get some sugar for her coffee (a hot long black) that same barista said with a poker face that "you should have told us you want it sweetened BEFORE I made your coffee", as if we were some low souls who don't know and should not be allowed to want things our way.

The coffee was just okay btw, not even good. I honestly don't understand where this attitude of...

I don’t normally write a negative review because restaurants are rarely awful enough to deserve this. In this case, the service was so ridiculous, I hope management sees this.

Went and ordered a double espresso to-go but was immediately rejected by a rude waitress. When inquired why this was not allowed, their explanation was because it simply isn’t allowed in a fairly rude tone. Then I asked again because it makes no sense to me, she responded saying “ double espresso barely fills the cup so they don’t offer it as a take out. “

I ended up ordering an americano with an extra shot. Bare in mind, I can’t order any form of espresso… with water with ice…. This whole ordeal is plain absurd.

I’ve dined at this chain numerous times, food has always been amazing. But service like this needs to be addressed...
